SAVE THE SKYVIEW!!!. i've recently read that there is serious consideration of closing this landmark to build a new subdivision, despite having good business 6 months out of the year. this would be a huge loss for not only belleville, but to the midwest where great affordable and novel entertainment is rare. well, not that rare, but in a place where applebees are more becoming more prevalent than mom & pop pie shops, it would be very sad to see this landmark go.…
Great Family Time.
I grew up in St Louis & going to the drive-in on the weekends was something I always looked forward to as a child, and as a teenager when I was allowed to start dating. There were 6 children in our
family & money was a little tight, but the drive-in was a family function we could afford & everyone enjoyed.
My husband & I have been taking our children to Skyview Driv- In in Belleville for several years & they absolutely LOVE it! We get there early for the best parking spots, set up our lawn chairs and little table and just relax & visit with the other adults while the children enjoy playing on the playground within sight. Then we treat ourselves to all of our drive-in favorite treats the Skyview has to offer, like pizza, cheese burgers & fries (my daughter is a french fry expert & she says theirs is the best - I have to agree!) corn dogs & don't forget the popcorn & giant pickles.
We eat dinner together and settle in for the movies. Of course the children are usually sleeping before the second movie begins, but then my husband I can sit closer holding hands, taking us back to OUR teenage years.…
Great time for everyone!. St. Louis no longer has any drive-ins but you can travel about 20 minutes into Illinois and have a great time at the Skyview. They have 2 screens to choose from and each screen plays 2 movies. You can bring lawn chairs and relax outside or stay in your car. Just remember to bring a radio because they have no speakers. They also have a nice concession stand and the facility is pretty clean. Get there early on the weekends though because it does fill up quick. They are open from April to Halloween weekend. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, they are open 7 days a week.…
