Located in downtown Clayton near Washington University, is the well known but less than accommadating Ritz Carlton. After many visits over the last 2 1/2 years I've concluded the hotel is convenient to the University but several staff members that greet the public should be replaced. The hotel considered expensive by most travelers is clean, there is a nice sushi bar adjoining the lobby, the rooms are adequate, luxury room amenities minimial, the restaurant has an impressive brunch on the holidays. Pros: One can self park in the garage behind the hotel.
