In Short – Many St. Louisans claim this place as their favorite, with good reason: The intimate space is lovely, with exposed brick, cozy booths, velvet curtains, vintage wine posters and decorative wood boughs. The bar area shines thanks to a handsome tiger's eye oak bar (one of only 35 in the country). An ever-changing menu yields such delights as smoked salmon pizza with field greens, grilled Gulf shrimp and tournedos of beef. –

Birthday Dinner

by nb68

The food:

It was nothing short of was excellent!! We had the Pork and the White Monkfish with risotto puttanesca. The pork cut was quite thick and as juicy and flavorful as can be all the way through. They failed to mention the wonderful potato casserole consisting of layers of thinly sliced potato and melted Gruyere cheese. The fish was very tender and fresh to taste and the bed of risotto was filled with a variety of flavors that made you crave your next bite (in between stealing bites of my wife's potato casserole!).

I'm a big fan of french onion soups, so I try them wherever I go. This one did not disappoint. I'd definitely put it in my top 5 favorites.

The meats and cheeses were as expected, unusual and flavorful, but a bit pricey.

  • Pros: Great food, Good service, cozy atmosphere
  • Cons: A touch pricey

Risoto and pork chop

by lawlessbreed

I had a pork chop, which sounds pedestrian, but was remarkable; about an inch and a half thick and juicy and tender throughout, with a hint of hot sauce and a sweet glaze, marking a flavor I have not had since Charleston, S.C. Eight of us at at King Louie's celebrating the Lewis and Clark expedition and I cannot say how pleased we were with the service and the price was remarkable for the food and drinks we had. I can only speak highly of the Risoto, as my wife had that, while others were raving out the door. And the owner, Matt McGuire, came to the table and was charming, with anecdotes and bon mots. Highly recommend.
