This unassuming and friendly spot is situated inside the Golden Grocer, the Central West End's health food shop. You can choose your food from the case or a menu; take it with you or eat in at one of several tables.
The Food
At breakfast, the time restrictions are as laid-back as the atmosphere at Juhari's--if you want breakfast at 4pm, you can get it. The Soujourner scrambled tofu, cream cheese and basil eggs, waffles, French toast and grits are only a few of the selections. Most breakfast items cost about $3. Mock-chicken and mock-tuna salads have the taste and texture of traditional meat salads and come as a sandwich on multigrain bread or a potato roll. Several quiches are offered, including vegetarian and vegan varieties; the veggie herb quiche has just enough spice to keep your mouth interested. You'll also find the Marcus Garvey burger BLT and the Queen Ann Nzingha Club.

'Cue Tofu:
Even those who eschew tofu will enjoy it in its barbecued incarnation, which has the taste and texture of barbecued pork.
Not-so-naughty Sweets:
Choose among desserts with or without dairy. Try the vegan sweet potato pie, a whole mini-pie with a crumbly graham crust and tasty, chewy center. Skip the carrot cake.
