Miso - mediocre sushi with flair – After multiple visits over the past couple years, I am convinced that Miso continues to be a popular place to be seen, and the service is fairly pleasant and prompt. The food is fairly good overall, but the sushi is sub-par and expensive. Portions are small, rolls are not well made-- reminds me of my attempts to make sushi at home. If you want good sushi, go elsewhere. If you want mediocre sushi in a crowd of trendy people, this is your place.
Miso Blown Away!! – Miso is by far my favorite sushi restaurant in STL. I moved here from Scottsdale, Az and Miso is a breath of fresh air. I've heard a lot about the "scene" in the basement, but it's so much more than that. Outstanding service matched with great ambience and energy and with the gernerous cuts of fresh fish and extensive alternative to sushi pan-Asian menu, what more could you want? The new sauces are such a great addition to the sushi menu and definitely set Miso apart from other STL sushi restaurants. The Wednesday 80's night is HOT and club DJ on Thursday draws an eclectic crowd. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great night out during the week or the weekend for a unique dining experience for St. Louis.
Miso is so so fun – Best Place in St Louis area to spend a thursday friday or saturday night. The sushi is great, and very reasonably priced, and if you go to drink... well thats reasonable too. The people are all pretty, so I reccommend dressing well if you go. It is definetly a place to see and be seen. Order a martini or some saki and bombs away!
Great night! – We had a wonderful night at Miso a few Saturdays ago. I made dinner reservations downstairs for 3 and had a fat, cushy seat to watch the wide varity of patrons. What's wrong with seeing and being seen? The place had a very sexy vibe, great plum sake and huge peices of fish in each sushi roll. Great place to start a party for 3. Service was great. There was a great table at the bottom of the staircase that fit about 10 people...it looked like lots of fun!
go elsewhere for good food – Go for the atmosphere, but if you are here for sushi, better luck elsewhere...The service is alright, but when you are paying these prices, you would expect a higher level of service. Nicely made drinks, but you pay a price for it...
My new favorite St Louis sushi – We keep going back for the sushi and to-die-for spicy green beans. Sit upstairs to eat dinner, have a conversation, and get decent service. Go downstairs to see and be seen and forget about dinner conversation.
know what you want – I think people need to understand that the lower level is more for being seen - you should have a reservation and an attitude if you want to eat down here. It's loud and crowded - but that could be what some people are looking for. We normally eat upstairs - it's much less fashionable but we are always seated promptly, the service is good and the food is fantastic. We prefer the slightly affected attitude to the standard sushi place - it's a little more elegant. But it all really comes down to the sushi being some of the best we've had.
I will never go back – The food was bad and the service was worse. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Um...actually now that I think about the dessert was pretty good.
Sushi Newbie – I'm new to sushi but my fiancee is not. She's Asian and eats sushi often. She says the sushi here is good but not the best. Still, for me, it was a wonderful experience both for food and ambience.
Just like in San Francisco – Just having moved from SF, we were concerned that the sushi wasn't going to be at the same level out here. This place tops it all, it is so good and makes us feel at "home" again.
