Bum's rush... Bad experience... would NOT recommend.
I saw Dr. Daniels, he recommended Medi-cal protein shake diet to me. It took a few weeks to get into see David, RN, handling this for the doctor. David, talks to quickly, I felt that I was getting the bum's rush with him, each time I have dealt with him. David said, "if you have any questions, concerns, just call." I had a problem my 4th day into the program, my blood pressure kept going lower than it should and my blood sugar lowered and left me dizzy and very weak. I had nausea, trying to vomit. I kept a journal with everything that I did, I completely read the material cover/cover and followed what David had told me to do. I did lose 5 lbs in the first 4 days, but I was so weak/fatigued I could not handle it and it concerned me since I was on blood pressure medication. I called Dave, he told me to not stop the BP meds/cut in half for 4-5 days. I got worse feeling that day, I called my doctor's emergency exchange, he did call me back/he told me to totally stop my BP medication, I did call and leave a message to let Dave know this for my file. Day 5, really sick today, I called both of their offices back/Julie/called back with information from my doctor, stating: doctor wants you to push more fluids, I asked how much, she said she did not know, are you kidding me??? and she did not go and find out, she then said, if you are not better in a few days, stop the program. She also, spoke to Dave who was walking by and said, call him, he will tell you how to get off the program. I called, left a message, he called back and said, push up to 3 quarts of fluids a day, try some yogurt and some bouillon for the sodium content. I said Dave, you already have me doing all of that. He quickly said, "then you just need to stop the program." I asked what is in it? Maybe I am allergic to something. He said, "well, you can read what is on the side of the container." How lazy is that, he brags he has been doing this for 22 years, wouldn't you think he would know what is in it???? I guess if you are too much work as a patient or need real answers about this program you are out of luck, I know I was... I felt like a had just gotten "the bum's rush"... good luck if you try this, but be careful, I did everything Dave told me too, maybe if they had worked with me a bit more... it would have worked out... I am returning 2 containers to him and I still had to have an appointment for that also... lol

It works. Don't bother going anywhere else.... My fiance and I started with the Medi-Cal weight loss shake program. It works, and fast. But, it is tough to not eat any solid food. All the other reviews are right on target, my experience also. I transitioned over to the other program, which is a prescription diet pill, combined with diet, exercise, and a monthly visit. This program was cheaper, and I preferred it to the shake. The results are still 2-3 pounds a week, not much less than the shake, and much easier to live with. So far, I have lost 23 pounds and my fiance has lost 30. I highly recommend this clinic. I tried lots of other diets, and supposed "weight-loss" clinics in the past and they can't touch this place! Dr. Daniels is a leader in the liquid/protein sparing diet field.
you can't NOT lose weight.... I began the protein sparing fast in March 2009 at 205lbs. Within about 6 months, I got down to 125lbs. I went from a size 18 pants to a size 4! Dr. Daniels and his staff are very supportive and their program is idiot-proof. You can't NOT lose weight AS LONG AS you don't screw it up. I have referred several people there but it is not for those who aren't ready to REALLY commit to something. This program involves drinking only medically developed protein shakes and getting into ketosis under medical supervision, so the weight loss is FAST. You can NOT eat solid food (not even veggies or lean protein) on this diet and cheating will set you back by at least a week, so it's nothing to screw around with. This isn't like Weight Watchers or other programs where you can fall on and off the wagon but still expect the same results. There are no provisions for moments of weakness. Many skeptics who do not have all of the info on the program will try to say it is unsafe, but if you go see the doctor and watch their informational video in the office you will understand why it is safe ONLY with medical supervision. This program has forever changed my life and I have never for a moment wished that I would have been eating solid food during that time. I can now wear the clothes I have always wanted to be able to get by with, enjoy physical activities with my children, and feel confident about the state of my health.
Medi-Cal Weight Loss Program/Dr. Daniels BJC St. Louis.
I joined the Medi-cal program on 30 Dec 2009 and today is 13 May 2010 and I have lost 74 pounds and I have not felt this good in 20 years.
I am going to be 50 years old this year and I wanted to feel better and look better than I did when I turned 40. I do feel great and I look great too; not an ego thing, just that losing that weight has given me a whole new lookout on life and I am walking 35 miles per week, going to the gym 3 days a week, and enjoying my kids; 9 and 16 years old, and they are enjoying having me to do activities with. In December I could not walk up the 2 flights of steps to my office and now I can jog up the stairs and not even be out of breath.
Thank God for Dr. Daniels program and for David the RN there that is very encouraging and keeps you motivated to continue to succeed in the program.
I was wearing a size 18 pants in December and I am now in a size 8 today.
50 years is just a number and not how old I feel and that is great.
have a super day. "feeling great at 50"!!!!!
A fast and effective Weight Loss Program!. The diet or weight loss method is for any and everyone needing to lose weight. Medi-cal offers two plans one that uses pills and the other is a modified fast (liquids only). I chose the modified fast and the results were incredible. I lost 24.75 lbs in about three weeks and had plenty of energy. The first few days were hard and after that it became easier. I recommend this program only to those serious about losing weight. There are no food choices and excercise is beneficial but not necessary. I have yet to exercise and I've lost well over 40lbs. Good luck!
