As the owner of Mitchell James Salon, I find it incredibly disturbing to know how easy it is for a disgruntled employee to try and tear down a business that has been around for almost 15 years! For instance, the posting by Sara we believe to be fake, Sara is no longer with us for many reasons. The entry below this one, is confusing as well. We looked through our records and we have no one with the first initial being, "E", and the last name of Miller. Really, the point I'm trying to get to is this. I have a bevy of different stylists that have been with me for years and years, we see almost 2,000 people walking in and out of our door within a month, 95% of which are repeat, and we have had many articles written about our salon. While reading these posts, keep in mind we're obviously doing something right. We just finished our 6th expansion under the Mitchell James umbrella.
worst experience ever. i feel bad for all the employees that work for James Mitchell.
Always astounded by my results! – Sara is always the most reliable, wonderful hairstylist I have ever ever ever been to!
I just got my hair cut and colored by Sara Myer at Mitchell James Salon in Richmond Heights. It looks fabulous to say the least.
However, I am not surprised by this because she has been doing my hair for 4 years.
She has been with me through all my different lengths, cuts, and colors.
Through every change in style she has made my hair look better than it ever did before,
even when I was going to the highest end salons in St. Louis.
Hands down she is the best hair professional that I have ever met.
Sara is always continuing her education about the most up to date techniques and trends.
I love this about Sara. I take comfort that she will always give me the best advice
on how to keep my hair healthy, as well as looking glamorous.
She knows how to do everything !!!!! Keratin treatments, wedding styles, awesome coloring, the best most thorough haircut you could ever want, the list could go on and on.
I always go to Sara to ask about different products before I buy them. She has such a vast product knowledge
that I know she will tell me her honest opinion rather than just try to sell me something I don't need.
I trust my hair to no one but Sara....and I have tried A TON of different stylist until I met her.
If you aren't happy with your current stylist or have no one to claim as "your" stylist you should definitely go see Sara.
What else can I say?! She is THE BEST! So if you are up in the air about
who is going to do your hair next call Mitchell James Salon and ask for
an appointment with Sara Myer.
I assure you that you will be pleased, if not blown away, with the results!!!!!
Excelent Service. – The Mitchell James salon was very impressive. They had great service and everyone there was so nice and friendly. Ashley Grimpo that colored my hair is now my hairsylist and will continre to be for a long time. She is great at what she does and does not stop till she gets it perfect for the client. James is also an extremely talented hair stylist and is amazing at cutting hair and giving advise on what proudcts to use and whats looks good and works for your hair along with Ashley. I know me and my mother will continue to go to that salon because of the great people.
They Put Me In Tears – I just moved to St. Louis and was told by one of my boyfriend's friends to go to James Mitchell Salon. I had to cancel my first appointment, but did so within 24 hours. When I went in for my first appointment about a week later, the hairstylist James reached out his hand to shake mine and said, "so why did you have to cancel your appointment last week?...you know we're a very busy salon and we've been booked for the entire month so just keep that in mind next time...I mean, we should charge you but I'll let it go this time." I stood there, completely shocked thinking to myself, did this really just happen? I continued to follow him back to the chair. Looking back I should have just left then and there. He acted as though he was better than me the entire cut. He was constantly arguing with the woman who washed my hair, and she would talk about him to me during my hairwash and when she dryed my hair. She even said how bad my haircut look.
When he actually started cutting my hair he said he'd give me "east coast waves". I never requested that. He cut a minimum two inches off my hair. Filled it with 7 different products. And then charged me 75dollars.
IF you want to go to a salon where you feel talked down to, or where they don't give you any respect, then go to this salon. I have never felt so uncomfortable in my life and I never CRIED after gettiing a hair cut. Maybe the other stylists are great but mine (the owner) was not.
This is by far the most unprofessional business I have ever been in and I would not ever referr anyone to this salon if they are in their right frame of mind.
also, i would give less than a one star rating but it says I need to give a minimum of one.
Great Salon – I really enjoy my visits to this salon. It is apparent that James is current on the latest in fashion/style/techniques in hair. I love that I can pop in to have my bangs trimmed for free in-between cuts. James has a great eye for the perfect color and cut for me.
best hairstylist ever! – I was in St. Louis for the summer and really needed a haircut. I was really nervous about going to someone I didn't know especially because I'm pretty particular about my hair. I went to the salon and was sent to Sara; I absolutely loved her work. I actually came back to St Louis a few months later and got my hair cut again by Sara. I just got my hair cut last week back home in NY by my usual stylist and she asked me where I got my hair cut last because it looked really good. I wish I could afford to travel to St. Louis every time I needed a haircut!!!
Super Salon – I have been going to this salon for over 10 years. I have never had a bad experience there. As a matter of fact, I have sent several friends there and they all love it! I recently sent my daughter there for a cut and up-do for her prom. They did an awesome job and then did her make up. She looked wonderful and was very pleased. I plan on referring more people to Mitchell James Salon in the future!
Unbelievable... – In all the years I have been a hairstylist, I have never seen anything quite like the head of hair that just left my salon.
It was BY FAR in the WORST condition I have ever seen.
A stylist at Mitchell James Salon left bleach on this girl's head for an hour and a half UNDER HEAT, resulting in the worst chemical haircut I hope I ever see in my career.
Her hair length used to be down to the middle of her back. Now it is only 3 inches long around the entire top of her head and is frazzled, fried and breaks off at a touch.
I am horrified.
Not only did Mitchell James Salon charge her for her service, but also refused to refund her money even after seeing the condition her hair was in. As they "don't offer refunds", she was offered a free service to come back.
Mitchell James Salon should have refunded her money, then offered her every available product they have to combat the damage that their obviously less than competent stylist incurred.
Instead, she came to me, panicked, traumatized and frustrated.
If ever I hear the name of this salon again, I will be sure to let them know of my client's less than satisfactory experience with them. I hate to think this could happen to someone else, should I not speak up.
beware not your normal saloon – Very strange. If this is the type of salon that James Michell puts his name behind, then you should be concerned. He does not hire stylists that work for him. They are actually a bunch of independent hair stylists. You pay the stylists themselves not the James Mitchell saloon. So if that does not give you an uncomfortable feeling then beware. Had a haircut by Sara. It was the worst haircut ever. Guess there are no standards for talent there. Asked for a straightforward trim and that I had a side part. The haircut was the worst I ever had. The way she layered it was horrible and she cut one side longer than the other side. She actually had the audacity to say she did that on purpose and it looked great being uneven. I was so shocked that I did not want her to touch my hair again. Beware, unless you know someone specifically. Do not just look at reviews and assume all stylists at this saloon meet some standard. Not the case.
