Good, solid, fresh, friendly, fairly priced fish - and other good stuff. Lazy River Grill is a casual neighborhood restaurant in a strip mall in West County and it's an unexpected little jewel of a place. The Lazy River is such a surprising little treasure, I'm almost reluctant to call too much attention to it; I don't want it spoiled. But I do want them to be successful and stay around a long time (although they are the third restaurant in this locale and have been there now for several years.)

They do several things well. They make several surprising appetizers including frog legs, lobster rangoon and crab cakes. The one that I occasionally have for my dinner is the amazing chicken quesadillas in honey wheat tortillas with black bean salsa - SO very yummy. Sometimes I also sometimes have the crab cakes appetizer for my dinner, which is served with their wonderful house-made cole slaw.

Their sandwiches are always yummy and they make truly wonderful french fries - some of the best you'll find anywhere. Our favorite sandwiches are the blackened and spicy Thunderbird chicken, the deep fried fish Shore Lunch sandwich, and the Grilled Grouper (my personal fave.)

Their real specialty is their fish. Not "seafood" - fish. They offer walleye and grouper breaded and fried or grilled, with some variations. This is what brings in the patrons and they do it so very, very well.

The atmosphere is relaxed and very pleasant. The owners are always there when we visit and clearly involved in making it work. The servers are familiar faces and the service is responsive and good. Prices are reasonable, drinks are generous and parking is easy. This is an unexpected little jewel of a restaurant.

Best Walleye for 200 miles. The People here are wonderful, The portions are plentiful, and the walleye... Its just the best around. Come for lunch m-f order the fisherman's platter lunch special and for under 15 a head you score yourself the best lunch you'll of had in a long time. Dinner, Just as good, But a little out of my price range. They do have a entertainment book coupon.
