Great Bands, Good People. I love this place! The best local original bands play at Off Broadway, often opening for indie touring acts as good as I've seen anywhere. Sure, I'll pay $65-$85 or MORE at the Fox or the Pageant to see a more popular band, and have a great time, but I've had even better times seeing better bands at Off Broadway for a whole lot less. Three good bands some nights for a reasonable cover fee. All kinds of music there.
Pillar of St. Louis Music Scene.
In the musical epicenter that is St. Louis, Off Broadway provides access to a great variety of bands and musicians - large and small, well known, up-and-comers, local and visiting. Also has a great beer selection that supports many of our local breweries, big and small. Sit and listen or get yer booty on the floor - there's room for everyone.
Support local music and the Benton Park Neighborhood; do yourself a favor and check out a show at Off Broadway.
My favorite place in town for live music.
This is the best place in town to see a band on an independent label. I've seen small intimate singer/songwriter shows and huge loud rock shows where you stand elbow to elbow...either way is a great time. One thing people don't tend to notice is how bad the sound is at most places. It's evident that the owners of Off Broadway make this their highest priority. They do have a good selection of beer and liquor too. Cheap PBR to Macallan scotch, I noticed.
The best thing about the place is that they have great touring and local bands. Every good band wants to play on the Off Broadway stage because the sound men are good and the stage is roomy.
I've paid admission anywhere from $5 to $20, depending on the music that night. Best to check out the website to find out what kind of bands will be there, you just click on the photo of the band and it takes you to their site where you can listen to cuts by the artist. I've found this enormously helpful when I wanted to check out new bands.
