GREAT FOOD & GREAT FUN
by jojo41 at Citysearch
Great food, Big Elwood is to die for. You can not beat the prices on the food. We go all the time with a group or just the two of us. Always have a good time.
- Pros: Cheap food
- Cons: None
fun & friendly

This was one of the most friendly and fun places I'd been in a long time. We enjoyed it so much we purchased a fast eddies T-shirt and funny drink holder and we're going back this wkend! The music is GREAT, the food is a good price and is delicious and the crowd and waitresses are friendly - me met new ppl, heard a really good band, drank inexpensive large draft beers and ate pork on a stick... it was fabulous. lol
- Pros: music, food, ppl and atmosphere
- Cons: bathrooms could have been a little cleaner
Never Again

I used to frequent this bar, but I won't go back after yesterday's experience.
The "live band" was a farce...there was a saxophone player and a guitar player who doubled as the "lead singer." However, the "singer" was lip syncing! There was no drummer in "the band", but the music had drums playing. So basically, "the live band" was a DJ playing pre-recorded music (no wonder he sounded so much like Rod Stewart AND Van Morrison AND Mick Jagger AND John Mellancamp AND...)
There were five of us and we spent about $200.
We sat outside; it was a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon. We ordered our drinks and food. It always takes about 30-45 minutes for the food to be ready, so the long wait was not surprising. The food was overly salty and very disappointing.
Soon the trash container near us was overflowing with paper products, ketchup, bbq sauce and bottles. The trash began to draw flies and I was being bitten by the insects. I asked our waitress to get someone to take the trash. She said someone comes around about every ten minutes. About ten minutes later, the trash was still piling up. I asked our waitress again and received the same answer. Eventually, I went inside to see if I could get the "Eddie" to have the trash removed. I asked to speak to him.
Eddie came to me and did not ask what the problem was. The first thing he said: "If you don't like it, you can leave." I said I am just asking for the trash to be removed. I got the standard answer, "someone comes around every ten minutes or so". I asked if he could make sure that it happens. He kept repeating, "if you don't like it, leave." Finally, I am paraphrasing, but Eddie basically said to me, "look around you, we are always very busy and YOUR business means nothing to me. If you're not happy, leave." I was shocked! (Later our waitress verified that I was speaking to Eddie, the owner, not just a manager pretending to be Eddie.)
When I returned to my table the trash was STILL THERE. I told our waitress the story. She genuinely seemed surprised that Eddie would speak to me that way. But she then told us that there is a long list of responses that the staff is supposed to say to customers with requests. "If it is popcorn, we can only say....you can get it over there. If it is trash, we are supposed to say someone comes around every ten minutes, etc..."
After yesterday's experience, I am disillusioned by the Fast Eddie's and I won't go back. I feel as though the establishment is just a charade, not a genuine place...more like a Disney ride than a great bar.
