Dry Burgers. Fast Eddies is unigue in itself - Food isnt worth the drive dry burger slow service , refills were slow to come if at all. This is no longer on my places to go .
Bon Air is what it is: A Great Dive Bar!. All right people, let's get things straight; Bon Air is a dive (but in the good sense). Why people complain about it being crowded, too loud, and the servers "swarming" around you is beyond me. First of all, it's not Tony's in STL (although I can't complain about having someone hover around you asking if you're ready for a refill). How many times have you had to wait to get your drinks (yes, alcohol) refilled and it's taken a long time. Second, it is ALWAYS crowded - deal with it. This is part of what makes Bon Air unique, it's packed nearly the entire time it's open. Don't go to Bon Air if you don't want to compete for a table. I've been going there for years and after awhile you get pretty good at finding them. The place can get loud, so don't count on having a "conversation." Instead, order a cold draft, place an order for some food, and enjoy yourself. This place is without a doubt the best bar to have a group of friends meet up or a group function. Their brats are great and the Busch draft is the coldest and best anywhere. When you go to Bon Air, just know that you'll deal with loud music, fight for a table, have great drink service, and they only take cash. Enjoy it for what it is - a great dive with character, no class, and a damn good time.
Unbelievable cool bar!!!.
This is one of the coolest bars of all time, throw in great food and it's almost heaven! PLACE IS HUUGE!!!!! I stopped here on the way to St Louis, but will definitely be scheduling a trip just to hang around Alton next year. Great Bar!
Great Food!
Hot Waitresses (especially that little redhead!).
One of the best bars of all time!
waste of time and money, worst place ever..
NOT worth the gas $$, VERY disapointed, There at 11:15 saturday afternoon.. ordered...got food after a 35 minute wait..burger cold and raw, tenderloin TOUGH as shoe leather, brat over cooked, its bun soggy. shrimp still slightly frozen.. kabob was ok.. I HAVE NEVER been in a place that MAKES you order drinks. We were told BY THE MST RUDE WAITRESS in our STATE.. we ALL had to order a drink or leave We finished what food we could ,before we were made to leave BY THE MANAGER..(wasnt leaving 20.00 in food cos they dont let you take it out!!!
LOUD?? extremely...tight quarters??unbelievably
GOOD EATS??ALTON BROWN, DON'T THINK SO!! raise your standard this is a DUMP
Way over-rated and too crowded. The food is cheap and decent, the shrimp are good, but I have to agree with others that the waitresses remind me of a car salesman hovering over you before your drink is even half empty, but if you order soda, be prepared for the waitresses to let your drink run dry for quite some time. It seems they see $$$ from high priced alcoholic drinks, or ever flowing beer. The place is loud, so much so a conversation is basically yelling at each other, and many times the patrons tend to be rude. How this place ever became popular, I have no clue. If you are a biker or a sports fan, its made for you. If you aren't, avoid it like the plague.
Too much..... Way too much hype for Fast Eddies. Yes the food is cheap and pretty good, but you pay for it in the long run with overpriced drinks and waitresses hovering over your table asking you if you need another drink, all the while expecting a nice tip. Not to mention the place is seemingly always crowded, making for excessive waits for food and little room to move.
The Worst-Kept Secret in the St. Louis Metro Area. Everyone and his brother knows about Fast Eddies; featured several times on the Travel Channel, this corner bar has become an Alton institution. The food is not only cheap, but delicious as well. The Big Elwood steak kabob is especially top-notch. The only problem with this bar is that it is almost always packed. It can been 2 p.m. on a Sunday, and the parking lot will still be full! If you don't mind waiting a while for food, definitlely give Fast Eddies a try; definitlely better than anything else Alton has to offer!
mabuscher. While going to school near by Alton I've came pretty well fond of Fast Eddies. Food is cheap and good. My favorite would be the shrimp and a nice cold brewed Budweiser. The bar is usually crowded but it has a good atmosphere and great people
Great fun!. We often ride our motorcycles there for some tasty and inexpensive food. I love that they have motorcycle parking! My favorite is the Big Elwood. So good, so filling and super cheap. My husband loves the burgers and Hot Chick on a Stick. Although the menu is somewhat limited, its all good!
Always a winner.... as the Mad Hungarian would say! Having known the Sholar clan (Eddie is the infamous owner) for many years (my parents went to H.S. with Eddie, and I also went to H.S. with both sons) I might appear to be biased. However, the place speaks for itself. It's an institution in Alton, and may it always be around! You can't get cheaper, better food anywhere and the atmosphere is, well, interesting to say the least. Get there at least 30-45 mintues prior to opening (maybe an hour on Sundays) or you'll find yourself without a place to sit and enjoy the greasy deliciousness of the Big Elwood, Hot Chick on a Stick, and peel-n-eat Gulf Shore shrimp. Coldest beer east of the Mississippi!
