OMG YUM. I was staying at the Sheraton in Westport Plaza and stopped in this place Sunday night for a few rolls. I'm a bit leary of what I call "Club Sushi" style places..but I had no car to leave the plaza so if I wanted sushi, this was my option. I ordered the Fried Philly and Eskimo Roll (which had jalapenos on it, not really seeing the connection to an eskimo) and a California roll which seasoned sushi eaters as myself would scoff at but sometimes I order it to sort of judge them on how well they make the signature sushi 101 roll. HOLY YUM..all three were amazing. Being that I was a bit buzzed up from the night I went back the next day (reminder no car, limited options at Westport) and wasn't sure if my rejoicing pallet was simply due to my beer and sake buzz...so I went in around 6pm Monday night and surprise it was HAPPY HOUR so 1/2 off a few items. I ordered a couple from the HH Menu. Spicy salmon and I think a Caterpillar roll. Again...WONDERFUL. This definately isn't authentic Japanese and probably no Japanese people even work there but they really know how to work with the flavors and everything seemed really fresh. I didn't experience any "loud" music but maybe thats Friday and Saturday night. Would definately recommend...great clean place and good atmosphere. I sat at the bar and both bartenders were great. Will miss this place from my little visit to St Louis..Five stars.
Uh, definitely not my favorite in St. Louis!. I thought the food was very good, but it was on the expensive side. The service was okay. What I really didn't like was the ambiance. We were first seated at a table that was dirty. We were then moved to a better table, but as we were waiting we couldn't help but notice the music was soo loud that we literally were shouting at eachother from across the table (and I love my music very loud, but this was obnoxious). We didn't complain because we thought that it was supposed to be that way since the restaurant is was sooo trendy and contemporary. My boyfriend and I couldn't wait to get out of there. I prefer more quiet, hole in the wall restaurants, for better food and ambiance.
Good food, overpriced, bad service.
I've been to Drunken Fish a few times in Westport. The sushi has always been pretty good, but expensive. The service is what I find frustrating. They hurry you through the meal - there is no sitting there to relax and chat without the servers pushing you along.
Also, their hot tea is $3.00. They bring you a TINY tea pot, and you practically have to beg to get more. I finally gave up and drank water after asking 2-3 times for more tea.
I doubt that I will go back.
Another great experience!. Awesome service and the sushi rivals that of what I have had in LA. You must try their special rolls!
Great Lunch Deal. I went to the Drunken Fish at the Landing today. The specials are super cheap!!! Two rolls are perfect for one person for lunch and you get soup!
GREAT PLACE for Sushi and Ambiance.
This is my favorite sushi restaurant in saint louis. i have been to the drunken fish at least a couple dozen times and it is very consistent with service and food.
I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place to anyone. it is amazing food and the quality of the fish is second to none.
Go for happy hour for discounted drinks and sushi...
Weird Waitresses. Great food, great prices, great happy hour.... not so much great service. I have seen people who are supposed to be working hanging out and talking more than any other restaurant. What's worse, it one girl at Drunken Fish Landing actually SITS WITH HER TABLES!!! I understand if you know someone, stop and say hello, but don't sit down when people are on a date trying to get to know each other. And don't push me to order a drink. I ordered what I wanted. I didn't want the sweet drink the waitress, Melissa, tried to push on me. And how strange it was how she stood at our table minutes after a normal person would've left. Self-service would've been preferred at this point!
awful service, mediocre food, rude managers, topped with a little friend.. My husband and I were more than excited when we had a babysitter for a friday night! We decided that we would head to Drunken Fish at Westport to have some sushi and cocktails. After waiting for about an hour to get seated, we were lucky enough to get to wait another ten minutes, just to get our water glasses filled! And then yet, another ten minutes just to get our cocktails! We wanted to give the server the benefit of the doubt, figuring he were probably just busy. Too bad the servers attitude was just as bad as the time we had to wait. He was rude and he kept rushing us. We ordered the Drunken Fish Roll, and the Kamikazee Roll, and both really, were quite similiar. Tasting pretty bland really. After we got about half way through our meal, I glanced over to see a HUGE nasty something or other, with long legs, crawling on the wall next to me. NOT APPETIZING. Could not even believe it. The manager, Jason i think it was, was also just as rude and arrogant as our server. He acted as if this were no big deal. It was disgusting, disturbing, and tasteless. Our experience was absolutely ruined, and i will never be back again, nor would i EVER suggest anyone else to go as well. Absolutely, completely, over-rated. AND disgusting on top of it.
"DAILY" should automatically include Sunday.
If you work for Drunken Fish, could you please pass the word, that "DAILY" means "INCLUDING SUNDAY"? I don't think your Webmaster gets it. Your decor, your ambience, your food-- Your place is awesome and reasonably priced, which is why my husband and I were bitterly disappointed when we drove 62 miles ON A SUNDAY to enjoy your sushi, since your stupid Web site assured us you were "Open DAILY for lunch and dinner."
Will try again at a later date, but this was pretty outrageous.
Rudest Hostesses ever. So the food was amazing, no doubt abou it, but if you go do not expect your server to come to your table for at least 15 minutes after you sit down. And the hostesses stand there and not only talk abut every customer as soon as they walk away, they will do it right to your face. I have never seen people as rude as that directly in front of the customers.
