Editorial Review for The Drunken Fish – by J.P. Anderson
The Scene
Club music pulses and kitschy kung fu movies roll on a flat screen TV in this stylish sushi lounge, which feels like a hip downtown night spot even though it's smack dab in the middle of the comparatively sterile West Port Plaza complex. A few couches beckon up front, and blond wood tables offer scattered seating in the long, low-lit dining room. New to Japanese food? Don't sweat it--servers will happily give you a crash course.
The Food
The extensive menu is admittedly pricey--specialty maki rolls range from $8 to $16--but sushi lovers will appreciate the large portions, wide variety and excellent quality. Lightly seared and kissed with ginger-sesame-soy sauce, tuna tataki with shredded daikon and carrot makes for a tantalizing start. Spicy tuna and spider roll with soft shell crab are standouts, but nothing tops the Drunken Fish roll: crispy shrimp tempura and steamed asparagus rolled in rice, drizzled with Japanese mayo and topped with fat slices of ruby red tuna.

I have dined at this restaraunt many times for both business and personal occasions. The prices far exceed the value and quality of the product. The service is mediocre at best. My last meal there was lunch with my wife and son on 7/10/08 - cost b/4 tip: $102.84...a little pricey for raw fish and rice...Definitely not worth it. I will be searching for other venues in the future.
Pros: Fresh Ingredients.
Cons: Price & Service.

I don't eat seafood, but I went here because my friends chose to. I ordered the steak teriyaki and was very unimpressed. It was a fatty pan fried steak with some teriyaki sauce poured on it and a side of white rice. I think for the price, $17, this wasn't worth it.
