The Scene – Like King Louie's, SqWires and Kitchen K before it, 1111 Mississippi is quickly proving that if you build it, they will come. In this case it means a luxuriously appointed bistro and bar in a converted turn-of-the-century warehouse. 1111's wood beams, leather loungers and low lighting give it an exceptional ski-lodge-meets-urban-loft feel. The multi-leveled space, packed with young scene-seekers and established movers-and-shakers, lends an exclusive, intimate air. – – The Food – Though some kinks need to be worked out in the kitchen, 1111's offerings are…

Great food and Service!!!!!!

by rub15 at Citysearch

Busy Saturday night and they sat us within minutes of our 8:00 reservation. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great waiter. The steamed mussels were the 2nd best Ive ever had.....Bar italia in the CWE is the best. GIrlfriend had a vegetarian plate of Polenta and various grilled mushrooms. We eat out alot and at mostly the best resturaunts in town and she said that this may have been her favorite dish ever. I tried some and it was great. I had the beef medallions over their mashed potatoes with a sauce lighty drizzled over the top. Was very good as well. Only down side is that upon making my reservation 4 days early I specified a romantic, qiueter spot. Had been here before and knew it is quite loud and crowded but there were a few tucked away spots. We were sat in the middle of a row of 8-9 tables in the middle of the room upstairs. Not a big deal but also was not what we requested. For a romantic dinner???...no for great food and especially a group of 4 or more....yes.

  • Pros: Food, service, and Wine list
  • Cons: Noisy, and a bit crowded in regards to table locations.

Disappointing

by irishcolleen at Citysearch

I had been to this restaurant a year ago for lunch, but Valentine's Day 2009 was the first time I had been back and had beent here for dinner. Because I had a good experience with the lunch (excellent flatbreads!) and the numerous good reviews online, my boyfriend and I decided to go there for Valentne's Day. We decided to do the 3-course Valentine's Day special. I had the boar ravioli, the field greens and the bacon-wrapped pork. I forget what my boyfriend had for his appetizer, but he had the butternut squash soup and the seared duck breast. Good things first: we both enjoyed our main courses (the pork and the duck) very much, and we thought the staff was very pleasant (they accomodated us even of our days plans ended very early and we showed up an hour early to our appointment!). Disappointments: the boar ravioli was lukewarm , had a weird aftertase, and the sauce actually seemed like it came out of a can. The field greens were nothing to crow about and my boyfriend's butternut squash soup was waay too sweet. Overall, the restaurant is a beautiful place to go, but the food is disappointing and wasn't worth the price.

Ignore the good reviews on this place. They're trying to create image and buzz but the trouble is with their food; it's bad and service isn't much better. Ate there twice and both times the food was serve luke-warm at best. Try Taco Bell, it's better and you'll save yourself some money.

The Details on 1111 Mississippi

When to Go:

It's quite a scene on weekends; be sure to call ahead. If reservations are running late, relax in the "loft," with its fireplace and cocktail waitresses.

Where to Sit:

There are two dining areas: the second-story with banquettes, and the first-story central area. The former is quiet and away from the action; the latter is in the midst of everything. There's also a private wine-cellar room; specify when you make reservations.
