Fantastic!.
I was in town on a buisness trip, and a colleague suggested this restaurant. There were 3 in our group and we did not have reservations but were seated promptly. (It was mid-week, so I can imagine that reservations would be necessary during the weekend.) Our server was friendly but did not constantly bother us, and he had great suggestions. I had rabbit over goat cheese polenta and wanted to lick my plate. I also had the butternut squash soup, and it was the best I've had at any restaurant, ever. We split a flourless chocolate cake and it was also amazing. I wish I lived closer so I could return sooner!

Great Steak, Nice Atmosphere.
In town on business, we had planned to go to a steak house when the cabbie suggested 1111. Had one the the
best tasting, flavorful Rib eye's ever. Server was polite but not over-bearing. Bibb lettuce and fruit salad was excellent.
Not the biggest menu, but everything we saw come out looked appealing. We'll definitely be back.

Great food and Service!!!!!!.
Busy Saturday night and they sat us within minutes of our 8:00 reservation. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great waiter. The steamed mussels were the 2nd best Ive ever had.....Bar italia in the CWE is the best. GIrlfriend had a vegetarian plate of Polenta and various grilled mushrooms. We eat out alot and at mostly the best resturaunts in town and she said that this may have been her favorite dish ever. I tried some and it was great. I had the beef medallions over their mashed potatoes with a sauce lighty drizzled over the top. Was very good as well. Only down side is that upon making my reservation 4 days early I specified a romantic, qiueter spot. Had been here before and knew it is quite loud and crowded but there were a few tucked away spots. We were sat in the middle of a row of 8-9 tables in the middle of the room upstairs. Not a big deal but also was not what we requested. For a romantic dinner???...no for great food and especially a group of 4 or more....yes.

Disappointing.
I had been to this restaurant a year ago for lunch, but Valentine's Day 2009 was the first time I had been back and had beent here for dinner. Because I had a good experience with the lunch (excellent flatbreads!) and the numerous good reviews online, my boyfriend and I decided to go there for Valentne's Day. We decided to do the 3-course Valentine's Day special. I had the boar ravioli, the field greens and the bacon-wrapped pork. I forget what my boyfriend had for his appetizer, but he had the butternut squash soup and the seared duck breast. Good things first: we both enjoyed our main courses (the pork and the duck) very much, and we thought the staff was very pleasant (they accomodated us even of our days plans ended very early and we showed up an hour early to our appointment!). Disappointments: the boar ravioli was lukewarm , had a weird aftertase, and the sauce actually seemed like it came out of a can. The field greens were nothing to crow about and my boyfriend's butternut squash soup was waay too sweet. Overall, the restaurant is a beautiful place to go, but the food is disappointing and wasn't worth the price.

1111 Mississippi.
Ignore the good reviews on this place. They're trying to create image and buzz but the trouble is with their food; it's bad and service isn't much better. Ate there twice and both times the food was serve luke-warm at best. Try Taco Bell, it's better and you'll save yourself some money.

Perfect for our One Year Anniversary.
We decided to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary at a restaurant we hadn't visited before. We found out about 1111 Mississippi, and thought it would be fun to try! We made our reservations easily through their website, and upon arriving were shown directly to our table. Our waiter was fantastic: he learned it was our anniversary, so he brought us 2 glasses of champagne, complimentary and was great at making suggestions. I also spoke to the couple next to us (they had just received their check and were leaving) and they gave great recommendations. We were told we had to try to the wild boar ravioli by a friend and by reading other reviews of the restaurant, so we did: not so boary (though I'm not sure what IS boary) but the sauce and textures were great. My husband took our waiter's advice and orderd the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin: delicious, tender, hubby was happy. I had the wild mushrooms with polenta: also delicious. The polenta was amazing, rich and creamy. We were very impressed with the overall atmosphere, the food (oh, the free bread is AMAZING too), the wine list (I had a shiraz, hubby had a good ole beer), our waiter (Scott B., you were fantastic!) and the overall experience. A large group was seated close to us, and they were even having a great time, so I would recommend coming with a larger party as well. We think we'll make this a yearly tradition, or at the very least will definitely come back!

Excellent & Consistent service, food, and wine selection.
I've been going to 1111 for four years and rank it in my top 5 restaurants in St. Louis. The flat breads, apps, and entrees are all delicious. The staff is always very friendly and attentive. And of course, their sommelier does a wonderful job managing their wine selection as well as providing recommendations.
I have eaten at the bar, in the cafe area on the first level and the dining room area on the second level. For a informal drink or casual dinner the first floor will provide succinct service. If you're looking to impress or just need privacy then the second level should be your request.

Very disappointed..
I was really hoping to like this place...
The setting was nice, but certainly more casual than I'd expected. From where we were seated near the bar, it felt a little like an upscale sports bar... My real issue was with the food. We started with the wild boar ravioli, which was undercooked with a definite Chef Boyardee quality. The mushroom app with puffed pastry didn't have a lot going on either. I had the duck breast and our server seemed shocked to hear me give a temp. "Medium rare? The chef suggests like a medium..." My date had the ribeye and the meat quality was bad (yes, I know it's a fatty cut, but this was just bad).
On the positive side... The wine list was good and very reasonably priced, our server was attentive and pleasant (but not very knowledgeable), and we didn't have to wait for a table (on a Friday).

Too expensive and rude server..
I usually don't take the time to write reviews, but in this case, I felt compelled to warn people. I read the other reviews on here and took my husband to 1111 for his birthday. We were seated in a crowded location, with the other tables only inches away. The most aggravating thing was our server, who questioned what we ordered (especially our wine choices) and did so with a condescending attitude. It was very embarrassing and a real damper on a special evening. This is absolutely not the place to go for privacy or a romantic meal. Additionally, we both felt the menu was limited. On the positive side, we did enjoy the cheese platter, and I liked the bread--but those were the only highlights of the experience. For his entree, my husband had the "wild boar," which was overcooked and flavorless. I tried the stuffed chicken, which only tasted like the Dijon sauce smothered all over it. We also recognized the "gourmet" cheese on top of his dish; it was the same cheese we buy every week from Costco. It's OK cheese, but it's not what we expected or paid for. The entire experience was not worth the price or time. If you do go there, I truly hope your experience will be better than ours.
