Great Space. After growing up in Richmond Heights, it is nice to see nice establishments such as Monarch open up to create a more inviting experience for Maplewood. The interiors are great and the space is well thought out with the bar almost separate from the restaurant. The food of course was equally enjoyable.

Outstanding Bartender makes every visit to Monarch Worthwhile!. The bar staff is top drawer! I can't begin to say how great the service I received was on 3 seperate occasions, without failure. Michele B. was poised, pleasant, and extremely knowledgable about the wines, beers, liquors, etc. without being condescending or patronizing. With an attitude and aptitude like hers, this girl is a true asset for Monarch and I for one will refer all my business associates and friends to drink -- and dine -- great, fun & fresh food! What a fabulous find! What a boost to Maplewood!

Great restaurant, great experience!. We had a party for 18 people(including a 3 & 8 yr old) , it was fantastic from cocktails through dessert. EVERYONE loved everything, food(fantastic), service, ambience!! Would recommend to anyone looking for a great experience, not to be out done by anyone in St. Louis!

We were celebrating a 95th birthday and waned the evening to be perfect, it certainly was. We made all arrangements on the internet, couldn't have been more pleased!

Job well done. Monarch is wonderful! Jeff Orbin is pure genius!! Everything about my dining experience was wonderful, the wait staff, food, and atmosphere. This is a restaraunt that is a top notch addition to the city of St.Louis. Congratulations on a spectacular job!!

Our Favorite Restaurant. Monarch is our favorite place for a casual dinner or a special ocasion. we have eaten there several times since they have open. Their food, service and wine list is unmatched in STL.

I've dined in many expensive restaurants in big cities and in different countries (Le Cinq at Four Season in Paris for being the most recent one), and none of them had disappointed me this much like Monarch. We had the soft shell crab for appetizer, and it wasn't fully cooked. I ordered the Open Lobster Ravioli - the sauce tasted like the one I'd make at home when I don't have time, I didn't find the "jumbo lump" crab meat that was in the description (there was only a couple threads in the plate), and ultimately I did find two small pieces of lobster meat. My companion had their Halibut, and found that it was thin and overcooked. Overall, the food was insipid and way too ordinary for the prices they charge. It's very sad for the people in town if this is indeed the "best" restaurant in St. Louis.

Super!. The wait staff is top notch! I can't begin to say how great this place it!! Danielle waited on us and she was poised and pleasent. Knowledgable without being snotty......Can't express what a great evening we had! We will be back!!

Supurb Service. A great dining experience with attention to detail. The service was outstanding and it's great to see such a fine restaurant in the St. Louis area, especially in Maplewood. Salute!!

How hot is Monarch? So hot that when MTV shot its reality show "Made" in spring 2004, it chose Monarch for its location. And for good reason: its three spaces (lush lounge, trendy boulevard bistro, and formal dining room) are all stunning in their own right. From the leather-swathed maitre d' stand to the tastefully branded dinnerware and the knowledgeable, confident waitstaff, Monarch pulses with elegance and panache.

The Food
Lump crab cakes arrive artfully presented atop a bed of fried leeks, while crab-stuffed calamari is paired with a sweet potato puree. Flavorful, grilled beef tenderloin comes doused in foie gras butter with airy, Brie-whipped potatoes. Freshly baked chocolate molten cake is the perfect end to any meal.
