Editorial Review for Moxy – by Cindy Teasdale
The Scene
Moxy's intimate dining room, swathed in calming blues and crisp textures, offers pleasingly few tables and a cozy bar. A second, smaller dining room lies a half-story up, at the back of the narrow space, above the semi-open kitchen. The restaurant's prime West End location makes it a popular choice for both established socialites and younger trendsetters. An irreverently casual waitstaff engages in playful banter with both patrons and colleagues.
The Food
Supple scallops, seared with celery root remoulade, make a great starter, as do fresh lobster pot stickers with ginger dipping sauce. For dinner, the ravioli is filled with grainy salsicia sausage and overcooked spinach; opt for the delicate salmon in chipotle-maple glaze or the lightly breaded and sauteed Szechuan shrimp with Asian vegetables. Desserts run the gamut from bland coffee flan to warm, home-cooked blueberry butter cake.

Insider Tips
Where to SitThe front room is cramped, and tables near the door mean a chilly meal during the winter months. If you don't mind being a bit out of the way, ask to be seated in the back room.

I found Moxy on this site and decided to visit during one of my trips to St. Louis and I'm glad I did. My waiter (Kenny) made sure I was kept company since I was by myself, and the service overall was friendly and fast (for this type of restaurant). Moxy is all about the trendy atmosphere. From the modern decor to the art slidshows on the LCD screens mounted on the walls of the restaurant, it is clear that Moxy is out to draw in the younger, more hip crowd. I ordered the tuna entre with the scallops appetizers (everything on the menu is one word) and was pleased with all of it. The scallops appetizer is served with fennel slaw and butter sauce and the scallops melt in your mouth; it was my favorite part of the meal though the tuna was also cooked to perfection - only seared on the outside, raw in the middle served w/ wasabi and rice. I hear they also have some great Martini's but I stuck with a nice Pinot Noir. If you are in St. Louis, I recommend you try Moxy. It is in a nice area and there a bunch of other good restaurants to check out there as well.
Pros: Atmosphere, great appetizers, trendy, nice part of town
Cons: small space (make reservations)

Try the butternut squash tortaloni! It's delicious! A complex spin on the everyday dish. Great place to impress a date!
