Love this place!!!. This place is awesome, food is beyond good, and every server i have ever had there was excellent. some people say that is a bit pricey, but it is still cheaper than most places in Saint Louis. Yet those same people will gladly go across the river and give their money to people who would never come spend money over here, and never complain about the cost??? This place is excellent food and service, if you want cheaper garbage, pre-packaged food, then go to olive garden!

Great Food. This place is an amazing italian restaurant in southern Illinois. Every time I visit the area I have to go to Mungo's. My father knows many of the original employees, such as the head chef. The prices are justified by the great food and experience. Unfortunately reservations are not taken so a wait is a must to enjoy this place. The salads are the best and like another said they are indulgent and not healthy. All in all definitely my favorite restaurant way above and beyond Olive Garden.

OVERPRICED, UNDERFED AND OVERCOOKED. My wife and I frequently entertain VIP clients by taking them out for dinner and drinks at a fine dining restaurant, so we decided to give Mungo?s a try. Quite frankly, I was somewhat surprised by the high prices on the menu, so I was expecting an extraordinary dining experience to justify the cost of the meals. Unfortunately, my wife and I, and our guests were quite disappointed.

We waited approximately 40 minutes to be seated. Once seated, our drink and dinner orders were taken in a reasonable amount of time. The server was good and well informed about the menu and the specials. We ordered chicken entrees, Chicken Mudiga, Chicken Tony and Chicken Stasilli. Our disappointment was in the dinner entrees. The Chicken Tony had no flavor, and the chicken was charred and dry from overcooking. There were a few mushrooms on top and it was covered in a sauce that was the consistency of water. The side order was pasta with oil. The pasta was overcooked and had very little flavor in the oil sauce. Those with the Chicken Mudiga had similar complaints-overcooked chicken, watery sauce, and very little flavor. One of the women had ordered the Chicken Stasilli that she chose not to finish.

My wife and I are extremely unhappy about our dining experience at Mungo?s. We have eaten at a number of excellent Italian restaurants and we found Mungo?s severely lacking in both food quality and quantity. Usually we both end up taking half of our meals home with us because we are so full. The portion sizes at Mungo?s were about half of what we are normally served and not even close to the flavor we were expecting. My wife filled up on bread and I stopped on the way home and had a cheeseburger.

I don?t normally write critique letters unless our visit was an ?extreme? positive or negative experience. I felt compelled to write in this instance. We will not return to Mungo?s nor will we recommend it to friends or clients.
