A solid bet. Having spent the last 4 months as a business traveler in St. Louis and experienced the meager dining choices, I've found that it is important to identify a few restaurants that will always deliver. Tanner B's is one such place.

Tanner B's is a pub, offering dining at the bar or in an upstairs dining room. The food is a step up from your typical pub fare - they have the requisite burgers and wings, but the real attraction is the eclectic appetizers and mains. Daily lunch and dinner specials, including a "fresh fruit of the day" option in the spring and summer, round out this well-balanced menu.

The service is friendly and generally fast (without feeling rushed), whether sitting at the bar, in a booth or at a table. The atmosphere is nothing special - which is an authentic feel in this age of "faux-pub" decors so popular at chains such as Ruby Tuesday's.

You can't go wrong with Tanner B's - its not an "upscale" establishment, but it doesn't purport to be. It is what it is, which is good, solid and reliable food at a reasonable price. It's the ideal place when you simply can't decide where to go.

A friendly place. This has to be the friendliest restaurant in St. Louis. The menu is interesting without being too interesting. The hummus appetizer is to be recommended. Also, they will let dog owners dine with their dogs (but only at the outside tables).
