USDA prime beef, elegant tableside service and mammoth martinis..
In Short
With its dark wood details, celebrity photos and tuxedo-clad waiters, this upscale steakhouse chain has the air of a posh men's club. Service is professional and discreet, with bartenders making a mean martini. Dinners begin with a waiter-driven cart laden with fresh vegetables, live lobster and cuts of steak; customers choose from porterhouse, rib-eye, bone-in prime rib and more. Side dishes are traditional and enormous, from baked potatoes and creamed spinach to steamed broccoli with hollandaise.
A cut above the rest. Morton's is a family favorite and I have been going there for more than ten years. Expect to be greeted as soon as you enter the door and the kindness cares over into the rest of the night. Make sure you come in on an empty stomach. The regulars know that doggie bags will always be required, and one must not leave without sampling some of the most delectable souffles on this earth. I would recommend the Lobster Bisque. Succulent and full of flavor, it simply slides down your throat. A lovely place to dine for any occasion or simply because nothing but a good steak would do for dinner.
A cozy little place with scrumptious food. My family and I have been going to Morton's for many years and I must say that never once have we had a bad experience. Everything about this place is great. From the moment you walk in the door, you are treated with the utmost kindness and they talk to you like they truly do care about what you say....a rarity her in St. Louis. The food is excellend, from the appetizers all the way to the desserts. Don't leave this place without getting the souffle', and make sure to order it in the beginning for it takes time to prepare. I would recommend the rasberry or Grand Marnier flavor. Although known for their steaks, they have many other options. Prices are a little expensive, but well worth it. And don't be surprised if you see stars such as Nelly or Mark McGuire on a Friday night. This place is frequented by stars.
no reason to go here.
With so many other great places to get steak and seafood in St. Louis, there is little to no reason to go to Morton's. The wine list is good, but high priced to say the least. So the food...TUNA TARTAR was alright, the tuna was not the highest quality. LOBSTER COCKTAIL was good, fresh. SALADS: Copped was alright, nothing special, I've had better. The BEEFSTEAK TOMATO was not good. A restaurant that wants to be 4 star should know when to pull something off of the menu. The WEDGE salad is a fad that needs to die. But as they go she liked it. Now for the MEAT. The FILET OSCAR was over done but they recooked it and it came out right the second time. The CHICAGO STYLE RIB EYE was an alright piece of meet that was slightly overcooked to medium. I had asked for medium rare. The SHRIMP were very good. The NEW YORK STRIP was done correctly but was bland. A little salt and pepper before it touched the grill would have been enough to pull some flavor out. O well. The CREAMED SPINACH was sub-par at best. The mashed potatoes with garlic were fine but nothing special. The POTATOES LIONES were good. the desserts were alright, the Gran Marnier souffle was good. The raspberries were grocery store quality but good. I liked the cheesecake, but no one else did.
All in all it was disappointing to say the least. I will not go back and do not recommend that anyone else go there. There are so many other great choices in St Louis, make this one the lowest on the list.
decent but expensive. Deservedly has a reputation as one of the best steakhouses in the area. I asked for medium rare and it was done just right. Only complaint is the price could have been better.
Steak. If you want to be pampered this is your place. The food is excellent. At one point the last time we visited, we had four of the wait staff serving us at the same time. Expensive but you get what you pay for. Key Lime Pie is out of this world as are the other desserts. The crab cakes are sublime. My adult daughter is not one for steak but loves the Chicken Christopher.
better than average but OVER! priced. If you've been to Kreis' or Seventh Inn restaurant, you will be somewhat disappointed. The Service is excellent, however the price FAR exceed the food and atmosphere. But find-out for yourself, like I did. I dont mind paying the price for an excellent meal, but the porter house the filet my wife ordered were only a little better than average for a very pricy restaurant and less than intimate atmosphere.
You can't go wrong here.. You can't go wrong with any menu selection at Morton's. First Class all the way.
