Awful, terrible experience.
Let's count the ways things went awry at this restaurant!
First of all, placed the order, including an appetizer after about a 10 minute wait to see our server. It was a busy Saturday night so I can forgive them for that.
We waited a while more and were brought our food. Our waitress brought our main course and said, "I know you still haven't gotten your appetizer. If you still want it I can see about discounting it." OK, fine.
She also failed to bring us ketchup and water after saying she would. When she came back sans the items she claimed she would bring, she said, "They actually aren't going to do anything on the appetizer."
Alright fine, we had a coupon anyway.
We still did not have water refills and I had to ask for ketchup once again. (And by this time most of the crowd had cleared for the Blues game so it was not a matter of being busy.)
After we were mostly done with our food, our appetizer did finally come out. It was the sygoons and they were mediocre.
My wife had the provel chicken sandwich and I had the Buffalo chicken wrap. Both were mediocre at best.
The only good part of this place is that the food is relatively cheap. Needless to say we will be venturing to other places with better food and better service. For us it was one and done at Syberg's.
Great Sauce, Poor Execution. I have dreamed for years of going to Sybergs after buying their wing sauce and using on wings I made at home. The dream ended the other night. I ordered wings with the Syberg sauce and a Shark Steak. After hearing Sybergs had good seafood and other peoples praises of Shark Steak I thought it was a no-brainer. I was wrong. My date tried the Shark which she described as "fishy chicken". It was charbroiled and had no flavor. The wing sauce is great! What an insult to put it on such skimpy, undeserving wings. And where's the breading? I might go back if I'm ever staying in the Hampton Inn, otherwise I'll make the wings at home.
Good luck getting the same thing twice!. So much potential, but they fall so short at their To-Go location at 141 & I-44. If it was not for their BBQ burger I would have never gone back. If they could get 3/4 of the order right we would go there 2-3 times a month. their is no bigger wing fan than myself. I will usually always get wings as an appetizer. After three tries, never again. All three times we had two or more wings that had been hacked with a sword like bone projection that cut my cheek and lip. The other time my 10 year old son cut his cheek also. As far as the burgers, why they ask how you want that cooked is about as useless a question as do you think we really care about you as a customer? I asked them one time if it really matters what a customers request for doneness is. They assured me it does so we ordered 1 medium rare & 2 mediums. All three mediun well!!! Even after explaining what problems we have had, no difference! Lack of experience or caring in the kitchen is so obvious. The only other time they haven't overcooked the burger was our final and last visit on 3 medium burgers. 2 burgers where extra rare and one well????? We took the burgers home and put the two rare burgers on the grill to finish and put on two of our own non-blood stained buns. Their BBQ burger was bettter than most - even cooked medium well. But when they send out some bloody mess for my 10 year old - No thanks. I will eat a Jack In The Box if I wanted to poisen my kid. We also tried the shark bites once, burnt something terrible and smelled a little to fishy. I love shark steaks at good seafood restaurants, this wasn't even remotely close.(Maybe not shark?? Carp??) Again poor quality probably because of the staff rather than the chioces of the owners. When they have cooked stuff right it is so good. Unfortunately that didn't happen very often. Good luck SYBERG TO GO-GO-GO Gone. Change your ways before it is to late.
Already want to go back for more.....
Wings that is. Syberg's has some of the tastiest wings I've ever put in my mouth and I love wings. Try the wings with the Syberg's Sauce; it is a spicy mustard based sauce with just enough kick to keep it interesting to people who like it spicy and more flavor than you'll know what to do with.
The rest of the menu is mostly standard bar fare, though I did not try the shark. I did get a salad once and was underwhelmed. Basically a whole lot of iceberg lettuce in a gigantic bowl.
The wait staff was friendly each time I visited and there are plenty of flat screen TV's for your sports viewing pleasure. Again..go for the wings.
Best Chicken Fingers and Steak sandwich!!.
If your going to stay in St. Louis, stay at the Hampton on Market St ! Why ? Syberg's is on the main floor!! The food was great, and loved the atmosphere. A great place to get a bite to eat after a long day, and if your feet don't feel like getting down to the bar, call Syberg's from your room, and enjoy! Future visits I'll be booking the Hampton on Market St because of Syberg's! and the Hampton was great too : )
Many thanks.
Best place for Shark!!!. LOVE the shark here and the atmosphere is wonderful. Can't say the same for the Westport location - their karaoke is AWFUL but Sybergs downtown ROCKS
Great chicken wings of course. This is a frequent place to go after Cardinals and Blues games. It is convenient to those venues and has great chicken wings. The sauce is very tangy, but not too spicey. I'm not an expert on shark meat, but I do enjoy their shark chunks also. But again, when I think of chicken wings, I think of Syberg's.
Editorial Review. Restaurant and bar attached to the Hampton Inn offers wings, pizza, burgers, karaoke and shuttles to downtown sports games.
WINGS!. 8 months out of the year I'm away at school, and I'm deprived of Sybergs/Helen Fitzgerald's wings!!! I even have a craving right now. Whenever I return home that's my main spot to eat. The wings are to die for, the Irish chips are delicious, and the salad is soooo good. This is my all time favorite place to eat. And, if you didn't catch the point of this, THE WINGS ROCK!!
