Great!. I've been here twice and I have to say that both of my experiences were great. The food and service was excellent. Both times were either a Friday or Saturday night and we didn't have to even wait for a table either time. I had just an appetizer the 1st time and the lasagna the 2nd time. It may not be the best italian I've ever had, but it's right up there near the top. I'll go back for sure.
Worst Italian ever.
Went to eat with my wife and her parents. The waitress was slow even though it was not that busy. The guy that tops off your water was so attentive I was almost afraid to take another sip.
I order their $16 6 layer lasagna, which was a 3"x"3 square of weak noodles and thin layers of hamburger. If there was any cheese in it, I couldn't tell. I didn't know it was possible to make bad lasagna, but they found a way. I have bought $3 frozen lasagna in the store that had 4 times the food and tasted WAY better.
I saved half my lasagna and the waitress boxed it for me. When I opened the box the next day, the lasagna was in a mess and I guess she figured I didn't need the sauce I saved with it.
My wife and her dad got the cannelloni and they said it was alright, but definitely not worth the price.
The atmosphere was nice, but unless you like paying twice as much for horrible italian just to have the server put the napkin in your lap...STAY AWAY!
Not worth the money or effort.
Let me start by saying that I usually don't write reviews, but I felt I had to.....
My husband and I received a $50 gift certificate to Charlie Gitto's as a Christmas present. My brother bought the certificate without ever being to the restaurant- I wish he had ate their first! I ordered the Pasta special of the night, an angel hair dish with lobster and asparagus in a creme sauce. It tasted like the Lipton Pasta that you boil with some Lobster thrown in. My husband ordered a filet that was mushy and served with literally 3 slices of hard undercooked new potatoes. My parents joined us and were less than thrilled with their tortellini dish and the same mushy steak and undercooked potatoes that my husband ordered.
The service was OK. The waiter seemed to have a snobby attitude and was not very helpful with answering questions about the menu items. He did not act as a "personal waiter" as I read in another post. He did however refold our napkins when we got up to use the restroom- WHOOO! I guess if you are in to that it is worth the $ 142.00 that we spent on dinner.
Coming from an italian family who loves italian food, this place did a poor job of representing it. If you really want a good italian dinner, try Zia's on the hill. The food there is wonderful and you leave feeling like you got what you paid for. They also serve salads AND pasta with their entrees (instead of hard, undercooked potatoes and salads ala carte).
I have NO problem paying for a good meal- Charlie Gitto's was just NOT worth it! I'm really glad I had the gift certificate so it did all come out of my pocket!!
