I realize this is long, but, PLEASE READ....I do not want others to be treated as we were!
We did not have a good experience. We live about 120 miles from St. Louis. My transmission went out, just South of the city and we called Route 66.
I was in upper state IL and during a routine oil change, I was shown how black our transmission fluid was. I would be traveling home and going through St. Louis, so I called and was told to stop by. Our transmission had been rebuilt just under 6 months earlier and still shifted very hard. I was told this was expected for awhile. The mechanic checked the fluid and was surprised how black it was. Upon hearing of how hard it shifted, he wanted to drive it. When he returned, he claimed he didn't feel anything. I explained that my passengers even felt it. He said he checked the temp of the transmission fluid and it was fine.
He said he wanted me to leave it overnight to drain, flush, and refill the fluid....but, they couldn't do it until the following week. I was worried about driving it and he said it should be okay, because it wasn't hot. I made an appointment to drive back up the following Monday and left.
Two days later, the transmission went out, near a busy intersection with no shoulder on the road. My husband came, check the transmission fluid and it was GONE. I called these folks, irate. I was told by the man who checked it and drove it, that he needed to get it back up to the shop and see what the problem was. I told him we couldn't afford to have it towed up there and he said, "it's still covered by the warranty". Then put me on hold, Sam then came on the line and said they wouldn't pay to have it towed and gave me the impression that he could have cared less that I had it in their shop two days earlier and was assured I could drive it, bringing it back the next week.
Sam had it towed back, this was a Wednesday. My husband called on Thursday and was told they would be pulling the transmission, order the parts needed, receive the parts on Monday and our vehicle should be ready Tuesday. Tuesday came, my husband called the shop Tuesday late morning and was told it would be ready by the time they closed at 5pm.
We drove to up to the shop, about a two hour drive, only to find out....our vehicle was not ready. THE TRANSMISSION HAD NOT EVEN BEEN PULLED!!! My husband asked for the manager, after we asked for Sam and was told he was on vacation. The manager had already left for the day. My husband wrote his cell number down and requested the manager call him that evening. The young man assured us he would call the manager right away and have her call my husband. She did not, until the next morning. My husband was told that he should not have been told anything until it happened, especially a wasted round trip to get our vehicle.
They had our vehicle for over two weeks! The manager told my husband they had a good reputation and would make this right. He asked for the tow to be taken care of and she said she didn't think they could do that, but wanted to make it right.
When we picked it up, the manager was gone and Sam charged us for the tow. My husband and I were visibly upset, but nothing was going to change Sam's mind. Lesson learned the hard way. By the way the part that we were told was bad, involves the shifting!
They did great work on my 2002 chevy trailblazer & a great price. I own Mantis Lawn Care i know good work.
BAD BUSINESS – Did not honor warranty on transmission rebuild. Put a band-aid on as repair work to get car past warranty period then dumped us saying "warranty expired".
Left us with an undriveable vehicle. Owner did not even respond to e-mail. Very bad business practices. Do not patronize.
You brought your vehicle in for a transmission leak which you had been leaking for a extended period of time which is a abuse to the transmission. We warrantied it only because we were tring to avoid just this thing. There was never any mention of any other issues at that time and it was checked out to make sure. 1 month later you call demanding we warranty and rebuild your transmission. Sorry we can not warranty things several months past expriation date. Fixing a leak is not a bandaid.
Honest Car Repair – 1st Rate, honest, and highly recommended! When they first opened, the mechanic I had was awful. The co-owners June & Sam explained to me that they ran through some questionable mechanics and now that's all taken care of. Sam's crew is so reliable and friendly. Recently my old car had intermittant overheating. The radiator place said $330; the dealer said $270 or hourly labor to research the problem. Sam had the car a week, that's a long time, but the problem was found and cost me $105. That's honesty!

Might want to avoid this one – I would advise caution before going here. I went in and got sold a part I didn't need. I won't be going back.
All my work has warranties, you should have came back if there was a problem so this could have been resolved
