Great atmosphere!. The decor in this place is great. Nice unique menu of food and drinks. Great french onion soup, sweet potato fries, appetizer platters, and desserts. Awesome happy hour specials. Wish there were more locations in the St. Louis area. Service is ok, but there was a time that I was in there for lunch on a Saturday and heard 2 employees talking right out in the open, one of which was cussing and talking about being wasted the other night.

Sorry but I dont think it is the elephants bars fault

More than likely food poisoned.
I believe I was food poisoned at this Elephant Bar last October. I hadn't eaten anything else for eight hours. I had a Strawberry Dacquiri and ordered the Teriyaki Chicken for my entree. Ten minutes after eating the chicken, I felt as if I would throw up, and hurried to the bathroom. I spent the next four hours in the bathroom at my boyfriend's house with diarrhea and almost threw up multiple times. Ever since then, I haven't been able to eat much because I get extremely bloated. This has kept me from going out at all since October. I had an endoscopy last Friday to determine the cause of my bloating. The full results are coming back next Tuesday, but my doctor saw severe reflux in my esophagus and believes it was caused by bacteria (which probably entered my system from the food poisoning). This ordeal has not only kept me in almost constant physical pain, but has affected my life greatly in all ways, and has cost me a few thousand dollars in medical expenses (doctor's visits, the endoscopy, medication, etc).
Not only that, but when I sent an email to them about a week after the possible poisoning, they asked me to call to discuss the "situation." I wasn't sure what there was to discuss, but they offered me a gift card and said something to the extent of: since you ate here before with no issue, you should be fine when you come back. I couldn't believe the nerve.
Anyway, please avoid this restaurant. I don't think they're as "food safe" as they claim to be.
Great food. I have tried out some local resturants here in the STL area, and when it comes to memorable food, Elephant bar is the place. I love the creativity of the atmosphere too. Try the quesadillas and shrimp skewers! The best you can get anywhere
