Rude Hostess, Disgusting Bathrooms. Although it was Cardinals AND MO/IL weekend downtown and the bar was insanely busy, the hostess was downright nasty and the food was average at best. The bathrooms were worse than you can possibly imagine - the men's room had an inch of urine on the floor and both the men's and ladies' rooms had toilet paper all over the floor in the stalls with the garbage cans overflowing. When we brought it to the attention of the hostess, we were basically told they had no intention of doing anything about it because it was busy. Seriously? It scares me to think what goes on in that kitchen.

killer steaks. i just had dinner at lucas park last week and i thought it was very good. i had the strip steak and it was one of the best i've had in a long time. my wife and i split crab cakes before dinner and they were very tasty. our experience was well above average. my only issue was the price, it was expensive.......i couldn't eat dinner there every night but i can justify it once in a while. THUMBS UP!

Horrible Management and medicore food. A friend of mine decided to have her bday party here along with about 50 young professionals from the area. I understand that we were a large party, however we were in contact with the managers for weeks prior to this event and the managers did not have enough wait staff to properly serve us. The drinks were slow and the food was even slower. In addition to that, the food and drinks were only mediocre at best.

After we spent over $3000 with this establishment on drinks and food, we wanted the bday girl to have the bday cake that we purchased from a local bakery. Lucas Park managers threw a complete fit and demanded that we pay them per person to eat the cake because we brought it in from an outside vendor. I completely understand their policy that they don't want people bringing in food from the outside, however exceptions can be made. Especially considering that two weeks prior a co-worker had a bday party there and they brought their own cake in!

One would think because of the great business that our group could bring to them in the future that they would want the event to go off smoothly. One would think that because this was on a weekday evening and the restaurant was completely dead except for us that they would appreciate the $3000 worth of business. Instead the management caused a complete scene when we brought out the cake. I was so appalled when one of the party members forked over the money just to get the management to shut up and stop harassing us. I have written letters to the managers and owners, but no one has responded.

This restaurant has poor management and the food quality doesn’t compensate. There are much better restaurants in the area to choose from...ones that could care less if you bring in your own cake. I personally can not wait for the day for this restaurant to close its doors.

complete letdown. I've eaten here a few times and always had pretty lackluster food, but last week's visit made me decide that they don't get any more chances. Our server was incredibly slow and knew less about the food on the menu than I did. My salad was gritty and it tasted like I had the bottom of the dressing bottle with all oil and no flavor. Our entrees took over 50 minutes. My steak was completely overcooked and my date's dinner was cold. Our server didn't check back for nearly 15 minutes so by that point we didn't really want our food recooked, we were just ready to go.

When I got home I got on their website and looked at a few reviews on other websites and had a good laugh. On their own website the only newspaper write ups that they have about them are from 2005! I know that they have had a new chef since then....I guess no one has had anything positive to say about him. I understand why. The best part was actually a review written on another website--by one of their owners!! Seriously desperate.

The building and location are both beautiful, it's a real shame that the food and service can't match the setting.

Finally - a restaurant that caters to the customer!!!. A group of us were in town for a wedding on Oct 18. We had reservations at Lucas Park Grille for the evening before the wedding. There were 18 of us with 9 separate checks. When making the reservations this was very important plus the fact we all wanted to sit together. We were seated at two tables beside each other. Our waitress was extremely professional, friendly and efficient. THE FOOD WAS FABULOUS!!! My brothers had the Bison which was very moist and done to perfection. I had the pork loin with lemon herb grits. Too good to describe. You gotta try the blue cheese Au Gratin Potatoes - ummmm!! Reports from the ones having the deserts were very good also. The restaurant was very clean and the atmosphere was fun. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting St. Louis. I will definately be returning the next time I am there. If I had to say anything negative, I don't like sitting on high bar stools, but that is a personal thing.

Bar Staff Was Not Attentive. I ate there Labor Day Sunday 2007 about 7:30pm - prime time dining, right?

The staff at the bar were courteous, they just were not attentive.

The crowd at the restaurant was nice. I came alone and sat next to two ladies who kept me in their conversations. I ordered a Pomegranate Martini (his suggestion) and a full entree and when it was delivered, I was not asked if I wanted anything else (like another drink!). I had to flag him back to ask for a glass of water with my meal.

The food was good. The crowd grew a little bit, but it was not obvious. The bar is located in a great spot with the indoor tables close by.

After several minutes, another bar staff member arrived and was just as inattentive. The person sitting close by and talking to me was smoking cigarettes. The bar server took the ash tray, emptied it and then retrurned it to a spot where other ash trays were sitting. She had to ask that he return it.

They had no problems taking my dish and silverware away, but they never attempted to keep me hydrated. My water became empty - no attention. I used their restroom and I was outta there.
