swinging bar and a great back patio - who could ask for anything more. seriously! the bar stools are a trip. the back patio is amazing. and i was told that you can actually reserve the entire back patio for a private party. the food was really good. the drinks were excellet. and our waiter was so sweet. overall i would rate this place a 10! the food was moderately priced, and could fit into most budgets. you could get a steak for $20, or a sandwich for like $8. or red beans and rice for $4. i had a sandwich, and would totally recommend it. their tapa menu is huge, and can definately see me going back for tapas and wine sometime.
this place is awesome! i was in yesterday...the hostess was possibly the nicest person i have ever met. the bar stools were swings. i was originally worried, becuase we had not made reservations. the hostess was so sweet and said that it was not a problem..that we were welcome anytime. and the food..well wow! we happened in on their weekly cuban pig roast. we were told that every thursday during the summer they have this buffet style pig roast..it looked excellent.
we ended up just ordering a bunch of tapas while seated in an old fashioned cadillac booth..very fun! the manchengo cheese was to die for! we also ordered mussels rockafeller, alligator!, hummus, crab empanadas. our table was filled with the most delicious food. im really looking forward to going back and actually eating the entrees..they also looked amazing! we were told that they are known for their jambalaya, and their bread pudding for desert.
our drinks were also excellent! may i recommend a pomegranite mojito. i was a bit nervous ordering it..but our waitress recommended it, and she was right-yum!
good food...not good service. I just had dinner with my friend at Bugaloo. The place was not busy, but we did have to wait around five minutes before a hostess came to seat us. We were seated at a table next to two air vents that were blasting out cold air. Being that it was about fifty degrees outside, we were not welcoming the cold air. We told our waitress when we arrived how freezing it was, and she just said, "OhhhKayyyy...." like we were so rude for saying anything. She did not offer to turn down the air but she did tell us we could move to any table we wanted ,so we moved to a table that was not near an air vent. It wasn't much better...but it was tolerable. I ordered the braised flank steak and my friend had the mojo chicken. Both dishes were delicious and generously portioned. The ginger mojito's we ordered were also excellent. I decided to order my boyfriend the beef tenderloin to go as a surprise when I got home. When I arrived home and opened the to go box I was so surprised! There was one tiny morsel of beef on top of a dollop of mashed potatoes. My boyfriend thought I had brought him my left-overs (in reality, I had spent 20$ for a steak for him). It was such a sad portion of a meal I thought maybe I had been given someone's left-overs by mistake. I called the restaurant and told the manager about the disappointing take-out and the best she could offer me was a 5$ gift card. I will not be cashing that in anytime soon...
