Bring iPad with games and patience.. OK, so I go to the salon for a trim and style.

First I call and ask how long it should take, they say 1.5 hours. Next I go there and ask the scheduler how long it should take, she says 1.5 hours. I get my hair washed (no scrubbing of the scalp, I'm glad I don't have dandruff). Next I get my curly hair blown dried and cut. The student then tries to curl my hair with a flat iron. I told her it wouldn't work and it didn't work after she tried for 15 minutes. I told her it would work better if it was rolled with "some" setting lotion. An instructor comes by and I ask how long it will take for me to walk out the door. The instructor tells me 1 hour, 1/2 hour to roll my hair and 1/2 hour under the dryer. The student then douses my hair with setting lotion and tries to comb it out while it is drying. I sit there waiting to see if an instructor interrupts and corrects her. Nope. She then takes 30 minutes trying to figure out how to roll my hair and starts rolling in the back (???). To make things more comedic the hair is drying out and she sprays me (face and glasses) with water to de-crisp the gel.

OK, so now my blown dry hair is full of hair gel, crispy, snarled and now doused with water (soaking wet). After she takes 1hour 15 minutes to roll it I sit under the dryer (on high). Now the metal hair clips holding my curlers in are searing my neck. No one comes to check in on me and I wave an instructor over who removes the hair clips (relief).

So, after 1 hour under the dryer (remind you that my hair is soaking wet with water and repeated doses of gel), the student comes over to test my hair. I tell her I GOTTA GO.

She carefully removes the rollers and says some are damp. I tell her I GOTTA GO. I get up, take my coat and go to the scheduling/check out station - which has 4 students and 1 instructor gathered around. They are all oohing and ahhing over my hair and neglect to ring me up. I ask how much it is, they say $12, I search in my wallet for exactly 12 and run out to make an appointment that I missed.

My cut is fine and style sub par, my hair is not shiny because it is too full of crispy gel. But what should I expect from a $12 student experience, hey per hour that was $3/hour.

I may try them again if I have a day to waste and want to go there with a girlfriend for a spa "DAY", because that is how long we will be there.

Don't expect the service to be speedy
