RUDE, INSULTING, AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!! (CWE location). Terrible service! Since I was meeting 8 friends, the host told me I could take 2 tables and sit at them while waiting for the others. After the first inning, the waitress (and then a manager!) told me if ALL my friends "don't get here in five minutes, we're giving you're table away." I tried to explain, but WAS TOLD I WAS "LYING" and that THEY DON'T TAKE RESERVATIONS BECAUSE OF "PEOPLE LIKE YOU [ME]." BY THE MANAGER. Even though a party of 20 had reserved the entire rooftop area. Another manager came to clarify the whole thing, although none of us ever received an apology. We'd already ordered drinks, and every place we called was packed so we stayed. All I had wanted to do was watch the Cardinals in the playoffs on my birthday!!!
Great MIZZOU crowd.
This is a great place to watch MIZZOU games. They have giant TV's surrounding the bar and many MIZZOU fans to help cheer.
This place can be a jealous cougar hang-out, but lots of men.
Great Food & Service.
We love going to Lester's for a number of reasons:
1. Nice, always clean, smoke-free and great sports-themed decorations. We especially love the wall of autographed baseballs and challenge each other to identify many of the autographs. In the main room alone there are 10 large flat-screen tv's and there are even more up in the bar area - always a good view to watch a game (or several games at once).
2. Servers: they are always helpful, friendly and very attentive, especially with our two children, which is very important to me.
3. The food is wonderful. The hot pastrami is as good as you'll find in town. The burgers are great and always cooked as ordered - even the turkey burger was juicy and tasty (never dried out). Their specialty is their pulled-pork, chicken and smoked meats - all are terrific, especially when you add either of their barbeque sauces.
A previous review said he didn't mind paying for good food but felt that Lester's too pricy. We ate dinner at Lester's in Chesterfield on 7.24.2010 - 1 hamburger wtih fries, 1 turkey burger with sweet potatoe fries ( the burgers normally come with chips, potatoe salad or cole slaw, so the fries were extra) , 2 toasted ravioli kids meals with applesauce and 2 kids drinks = $28. We've had dinner for four at fast food places and it's cost that much.
As a side note, we've ordered soda before and I don't ever remember them charging for refils! The only thing I think they could do to improve is to change their pickles - I'm just not a fan of the NY deli-style pickle (I'd rather have a standard dill).
We'll be back - hope to see you there!
Great food but not worth the price!.
First let me say, my whole family really like the food and service. The interior was spacious and nicely decorated. I had always heard the food was good at the Ladue location but had never visited. The Chesterfield location at baxter and clayton is close to where we live.
Some standout items- buffalo wings, all star quesadilla, french fries, chicken strips, reuben and pork steak. Some so-so items- potato salad, guacamole(all you tasted was onion), cole slaw, beans(bland). My wife and our 4 kids (10 yrs- 1 1/2 yrs) got out of there for lunch for only $79.xx, YEAH! We got Buffalo wings apptz. Pork steak, Reuben, All star quesadilla which was the lunch special, Kids chicken fingers and two of our children split an apptz of chicken strips. One mountain dew and 4 waters. Thank God only one soda because they were $2.50 each. Not even served in a real glass, plastic Denny's type glass. Imagine $10.00 more bucks if we wanted soda. $90 bucks for lunch??? Good food- greedy owners, Won't be back unless being treated by freinds or family. I love paying for great food, price doesn't really matter, menu pricing fueled by greed however does not work in my book. In my travels both internationally and domestically this restaurant is among a few that have fairly good food but are to greedy in their pricing with everything taken into account (Location , Labor, Food costs and decor). I'm sure the owner will justify their greed internally just like Madoff did, however our judgement is at the gates to heaven not by the square foot of our house or size of our IRA. I'm not here to judge, just give my opinion. My opinion is they have good food but their price schedules are disproportionate to value of the entire package.
