Background Music. So we loved this place until tonight. We sat down and what would you guess you would hear in a Mexican restaurant. Jazz? Country? Mexican music? Well you would be wrong on all counts. You would hear repetitive Islamic chant music. Really!!!! Not even a week after 25 of our finest Seals are killed terrorists in Afghanistan??? I get to sit in a restaurant in my neighborhood and listen to that crap in a Mexican restaurant. We asked them to turn it off and it went off for a second then came back on. It was not until the second complaint that it stayed off and guess what? They put on Mexican music.

We will never, ever be back. How very sensitive of this restaurant management to allow this. I think I will go to Afghanistan on any day of the week and sing "God Bless America" on the loudspeaker over and over and over again. Oh yea I would only get a couple of words out before I was stopped. We will never, ever, ever be back. I will tell everyone I know of this experience.

DON'T GO!!!!!!!!. THIS PLACE SUCKS!! WENT THERE FOR HAPPY HOUR AND THEY CHARGED $3.85 FOR A BUD LIGHT. LAST TIME I WENT IT WAS $2. THEY SAID THEY CHANGED THE HAPPY HOUR SO IT IS DIFFERENT EVERYDAY. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. THE FOOD IS BAD AND SO IS THE SERVICE. YOU ARE BETTER OFF BUYING A FROZEN BURRITO AT THE GROCERY STORE!!!!! DON'T GO!!!

Horrible Service. Waited over an hour for a table. They were preparing a table for us, when a waiter gave the table to his friends that had just walked in. Host would not do anything, manager would not do anything. We left.

Best food & margaritas!!!. Their food is the best, especially the vegetarian menu, and it's cheap!! Margaritas are the best anywhere, and the beers are ice cold....I highly recomment it for groups, goin out after work, or kids...Can get pretty packed, but the service is great.

Truely mexican. Food is great! Resturant is loud, great for kids! The service focuses on quality, not quantity. They great take care of you when they are giving you attention, but you might have trouble getting their attention. Food it great and prices are low.

best in the lou. El Maguey is the best! Perfect for families, groups and couples. The food is cheap and delicious. The waitstaff is the best in St. Louis. I have been to half of the El Maguey's in St. Louis and have never been disapointed. Great vegetarian options and the queso dip is to die for.

VICI. MALO! I was disappointed in the service at this place. Very unfriendly, rude, and slow service.

Food was good, I must admit, but I have great cooks in my family too! Food was not good enough for the price and dosen't make upi for the poor service.

I won't go back.

muy bueno. Great restaurant, love the food, great cheese, has a vegetarian section on the menu, would go back, defintely the best Mexican in St Louis

Good deal for an awesome meal!. Their food is awesome and cheap! You can get a wonderful authentic mexican meal for as much as you would pay at McDonald's. The service is also very friendly. Highly recommended!
