I'd Go Back. My husband and I went there for our once-a-month date night. I love Thai, he's okay with it. Everything said in previous reviews about the service being flaky is correct. One person seated us, another took our drink orders, but someone else brought them. We had a new person to take our food order and someone else to bring that too. When all was said and done, we didn't know who was our waiter/waitress, so when we needed another water we asked who was closest.

Another couple who came in after us did get waited on and fed before we did. This did not make us happy, but given that we did not have kids to worry about, we didn't mind as much as we would have with them in tow. My guess is if you're in a hurry this might not be the place for you.

But, that being said, the food was wonderful - albeit a little pricey for what we got (four small pieces of chicken for $8.00 - chicken satay). But, my favorite, pad thai reminded me of my absolute favorite thai restaurant in Sedona - so I would definitely go back again.

Even with some chinese items on the menu, this is not a spot I'd take my kids for lunch, no half orders for smaller tummies (even though the pineapple rice sounded appealing), and they won't eat the thai dishes I like so I can't split a plate with them. Guess I'll just have to keep this as a special treat for my husband and I until my kids palates become a little more sophisticated, and/or their tummies get bigger.

Cheated and Embarrassed. It was Friday evening. We has a $25 GC from Restaurants web site to try Manee Thai. We didn't see any weekend restrictions on the GC, but we called to make sure. They were very friendly and told us to we could use it anytime. When were we seated, I noticed that the GC did have a Friday / Saturday restriction in very small print. I showed it to our waiter and he said not to worry, they accept these GCs any time and would definately honor it. We ordered appetizers and food. The food was brought out about 30 seconds after the appetizer. We felt rushed. We had 3 or 4 different people bringing food and drinks and clearing the table through out the evening. When it came time to pay the bill, a different waitress came over and informed us that we could not use our GC. I explained that the other waiter (standing close by, but ignoring us) said it was ok. Then her English became very bad and she just kept saying no, no, next time you come. I told her there would not be a next time and we paid the full amount of the bill sans tip. Too bad. We did like the food and ambience, and had planned to take our friends back. Beware, don't use a gift certificate if you go!!

Wonderful Food, Serene Atmosphere. We live within five minutes of Manee Thai, and it has always been a treat to go there. From the Thai iced tea, to the pot-stickers and crispy spring rolls, to the tasty pad tai and various stir fry dishes, I've never had anything there that wasn't delicious. (My favorite is the cashew stir fry with chicken.) The portions are quite generous and the prices are reasonable. I've been there at least a dozen times and never had a problem with a long wait for food or service. The servers are not typically native English speakers, but they have always been friendly and have checked back during the meal to make sure we were enjoying our food. Highly recommended if you like subtly spiced Thai food in a peaceful setting.

So disappointing!!. We used to have wonderful food and service here, but haven't been in over a year. I am wondering if there are new owners. Tonight we decided to go again, and immediately after walking in, I was freezing. The temperature was colder inside than the 55 degrees outside. All the people in there were wearing their coats, so I said something to our server and she did not speak english, but she finally understood what I was saying. She came back later and told me that it was adjusted, but I did not see a difference. So if you go, take a coat!!! I always ordered Pad Thai in the past and it was wonderful, but this time, not. It was so salty in places that it was inedible, but our waitress never checked on us, so I did not send it back. We will not visit again. I wish they had a website so I could email them about my disappointment.

Terrible Service. The service here was HORRIBLE! Our waitress forgot my drink. We had to hunt her down to get it. She didn't seem to really care either. The table across the room was actually pounding on their table and yelling "Hello" to try and get their servers attention! The servers were only interested in speaking Chinese to each other and massaging each others backs. I have to say we loved our food, the pad thai and pineapple fried rice. Maybe do take-out and save money by not tipping and not buying drinks. We won't dine in their again.

We were disapointed. Don't go on a Monday night. We waited a long time for our food. The people who came in right ahead of us were served promptly and we waited as 2 later tables were also served . I ordered a special... crispy duck with asparagus. There were about 5 bites of meat and the rest was fried skin. The whole dish had zero flavor. My husband had lamb with shrimp fried rice. It was a nice portion. The waitress never apologised for our wait, came to check how the food was or ask if we wanted another drink.. Another woman was cleaning and setting tables and talking on a phone the whole time. The place was very empty so there was no excuse for bad service and mediocre food. It was a very disappointing meal, we have had good service and meals in the past

#1 Thai Restaurant in St. Louis 2006. The ambience of the entire restaurant belies the mall plaza look of Lafayette Center, where you can find Manee Thai. It is not far from Manchester Road, but doesn't face out so may be tricky to locate. Once you're inside and amongst wonderful staff, great food, and a warm atmosphere it is worth the wait and the money. I arrived with over 10 people and we all received our meals at the same time and they weren't incorrect or cold. They were hot and tasty. Manee Thai is a St. Louis Thai restaurant #1 pick, according to St. Louis Riverfront Times. If I had $20 to "burn" on food, I would jet straight to Manee Thai and sip some Thai ice team with Panang Curry or a big bowl of Duck Noodle Soup.

Great food, great service, good location, and happy faces. Manee Thai does it.

A Lafayette Area Jewel. We're fans of Thai cuisine, now that we've discovered Manee Thai. The favorites are Pad Thai, and the appetizer Larb, both excellent. Try the soups. The decor is tasteful, simple and comfortable, with wood paneling and Siamese and Buddhist items. Many of the staff wear simple but elegant Thai costumes.

Delicious!. My work group and I went to Manee Thai today for lunch. I had read one poor review of the place, but questioned the wisdom of trusting a single reviewer to form my opinion. I found Manee Thai to be excellent, as did the other 5 people present. The restaurant decor was pleasant and interesting, not junky or cluttered like many restaurants are. We were seated immediately, the waitress took our drink orders quickly, and despite having 6 separate checks, our lunch orders were taken efficiently and correctly. The servers were gracious and polite, and the appetizers were fantastic (Chicken Satay and the Soup of the Day). Our main orders were all hot, aesthetically pleasant and delicious. Manee Thai now has 6 new customers, a few of whom were first-time Thai food eaters. Can't wait to go back for some of their shrimp Pad Thai. Excellent.
