Horrible Experience. I did not enjoy my dinner at this restaurant. The food was not still hot when it got to my table on top of that it was over cooked. Now how do you have time to over cook my food but not careful and considerate enough to bring my food to the table when hot. The dishes also all taste the same. We ordered 3 different types of pasta at my table but they all tasted similar. Like it was the same sauce. Just disgusted! The dining room was way to crowded. The seats were too close together and the restaurant was too loud for a romantic dinner. I did not enjoy myself and would not recommend any one who wants good food for a good price to ever go there. I only rated the restaurant a 1 because it is required to rate in order to have review published. Not a happy customer or one who ever plans on returning.
disappointing. ordered chicken spedini, little chicken, stuffed with something unknown, looked and tasted like refried beans, would not have any idean there was any chicken, over priced, don;t waste your money, !!!!
All I can say is WOW.
Wow! What a fantastic experience we had at Paul Manno's Cafe! You completely forget that you're in a strip-mall, and I half expected to see Sammy, Deano, or Frankie walk in the front door! The food was phenomenal, the service impeccable, and we even had a local celebrity sighting! Joe Buck, Dan Dierdorff, and Keith Tkachuk all came in about 45 minutes after we arrived. We were treated like family as soon as we walked in the door, and Paul Jr. was holding court in the dining room.
The atmosphere is warm, intimate, and friendly. Service was impeccable! The specials during our visit were grouper, sea bass, lasagna, or linguine with little neck clams. The wine list was long and expensive, so if you plan to drink, be prepared.
I started with the tortelloni in brodo, a nicely spiced tomato broth with capers and parmesan cheese. The pasta fagioli, enjoyed by my father-in-law, was thick and hearty, wonderful! I had a tough time choosing an entree, but finally settled on vitello (veal) saltimbocca. 3 thinly sliced, perfectly cooked veal filets in a delicious sauce, with prosciutto, sage, and fontina cheese. All entrees come with a side of pasta in either tomato sauce, meat sauce, or garlic and butter. I chose garlic and butter, and was extremely pleased. Others at our table enjoyed penne alla vodka, seared scallops, and the stuffed chicken with breadcrumbs, prosciutto, mushrooms, and mozzarella.
For dessert we had tiramisu, which was the best I've ever had. The Italian cheesecake was delicious, and creative in its presentation. The cheesecake was sandwiched between 2 thin layers of white cake. Both desserts were garnished with fresh strawberries.
Our bill averaged out to $50 per person, but that included a bottle of very nice Chianti. For the quality of food, as well as the atmosphere and service, I would consider the price to be well-deserved. Excellent choice for an anniversary or other special occasion! We WILL be back!
Best Food and Service. Great food and friendly service in an unrushed, Italian family atmoshphere, every time I visit. Always a delightful experience with great food.
Great food, sub-par service. Great Italian fare. Everything we have tried on the menu has been superb. The service was poor with a 15 to 20 minute wait after having the entree dishes cleared and coffee served until the waiter finally showed up to tell us about the deserts. We could have had an enjoyable dinner in about an hour and a half to two hours, but it was two and a half hours plus thanks to an inattentive waiter. In the two and a half hours plus we saw our waiter 6 to 8 times. Do the math. It was painful.
the best there is. I've been eating the Manno's food since before they had Paul Manno's Cafe.(back when they had Ciao) This is the best Sicilian food you will ever have. Not near as expensive as most of the places on "The Hill" and better food. I don't know how this that guy spent $100 a person unless he drank a lot of wine. Ms. Manno and Paul are the best cooks you'll find. I should know I've been eating it since I was 14. As far as atmosphere, it's quiet and the people are great.
Don't miss this!. Their veal chop is unquestionably the finest in the ciiy, as is their marvelously magical rack of Colorado lamb. A stacked salad of Buffalo Mozzarella, sliced Beefsteak tomatoes and sauteed eggplant drizzled with thick, sweetly-tart balsamic and extra-virgin olive oil is not to be mlissed. Run, don't walk, to this truly incredible trattoria.
vice president. Manno's rack of lamb is marvelous. Clearly the best restaurant west of 270.
The Best. I have been eating at Paul Manno's from day 1! This place has the best food in St. Louis and that is a huge compliment coming from a New Yorker! Comfortable atmosphere, extremely friendly staff, great food. You might get to see a local celeb as they frequent this place! I recommend calling to make reservations!
The Best.
I have been visiting Paul Manno's since day one. This is the BEST Italian restaurant that I have found in St. Louis. I have turned many friends and family members on to this place! I have never had a bad experience and my family and I are always treated very well by the staff. Most of the staff recognizes my voice when I call to make a reservation.
Ask for Greg or Ted as a server and you will have a wonderful experience!
Also, check out the wall of fame at the entrance!
