Tips for Ruiz Mexican Restaurant

So refreshing. It is so refreshing to come back to a place over and over again for over 30 years and have the same great food every time! I think one of the most important qualities any business can have is consistency and this place has it in the bag. I have never had a bad meal here-only wonderful experiences that me and my family have enjoyed time and time again. I would recommend Ruiz (and I do regularly) to anyone and everyone who loves mexican food.

Glad I tried it out!. After moving to St. Louis from Arizona I was in desperate need of a good mexican restaurant. Since my move here I have tried many mexican restaurants in the area and after being disappointed so many times I am relieved to say that I have finally found what I am looking for. I went there last Friday after looking it up on this site, and even though it was very busy I received very good and friendly service, got my food quickly and it was delicious. I have to say that I have lived in New Mexico and Arizona and this food rivals any of the best mexican restaurants I have found in those areas. Thank you Citysearch!

My all time favorite for Mexican food!!. Ruiz is my favorite Mexican restaurant without a doubt. I love their margaritas (gotta try the cadillacs! they'll get you feelin good!) and the empanadas and the fajitas are my favorites. The service is always wonderful and we are always treated like family when we go there--Rocio and Juan are our favorite servers. We vacation in Mexico often and I always joke with my husband that I cannot wait to get back to Florissant and get some good mexican food!

Go to Pueblo Nuevo instead. Hoestly, this restaurent embodies all that is wrong with many mexican restaurants in missouri. It is the typical slop on a plate that most people have come to think is actual mexican food in this area. However, in this case, not only was the food bad, but the service was also slow, the restaurant was dirty and the food had no flavor. Too often, people go to an "ethnic" restaurant and beleive they are actually getting food representative from that particular country, but in most cases, these restaurants have adapted what they call "mexican" or "chinese", etc. to be what it is we americans want and it isn't anywhere close to being authentic.

If you actually want to know what real, authentic Mexican food tastes like, head south down Lindbergh to Pueblo Nuevo. If you like Thai Food, another authentic and very good ethnic restaurant in Florissant is Simply Thai. For Indian food, India Palace is also very good and just a little further South on lindbergh, close to hwy 70.

I am flabbergasted to see a 4.5 star rating for this place. Why??

I don't know what grossed me out more the decor or the nasty food. I believe this place has furniture that is 4 generations. The food was greasy and flavorless- The margarita was watered down and salty. and the prices for what is on the menu are ridiculous. I will not be back.

The best Mexican for 35 years running. When I was a kid in school, our Spanish class field trip was to Ruiz'. Everytime I eat somewhere with someone who assures me he's turning me on to the best Mexican restaurant in town, I find myself thinking, "It's not bad, but Ruiz' is much better!" No one does rice like Ruiz', and the beef they use is just fabulous! Oh my gosh, I'm making myself hungry...

Great EVERYTHING!. I LOVE Ruiz. I have been going to Ruiz all my life, my parents practically LIVE there! They have great service, food, and atmosphere. The wait staff are all people who know you and greet you like you are family.

my favorite thing to eat there are their Taco's & Rice. They Have Great food at great prices! i go there 3 times a week. my mother loves the steak because it is Certified Angus Beef, something rare in the restaurant buisness.

they are undergoing construction and it is a pleasure to see all the new things they are putting up because it shows that they mix it up to keep it exciting to keep going back there with something new!

Simply terrible.. To be brief: The entire experience was a total disaster. Upon entering, the wait staff was standing around chatting about their lives, and no greeting. When we were finally seated the waiter was extremely terse for no apparent reason and forgot our menus. Our chili con queso never came before our entrees. Our entrees were stone cold in the center, and had to be sent back - something we rarely do. After requesting the queso again, it finally came after our entrees were finished, but it was stone cold and solid. We asked for it to be reheated, but it never reappeard again the entire meal except on the bill! The waiter (a veteran there) just was oblivious to all the problems and didn't care nor apologize. Very strange. We will NEVER eat there again.

Great food, horrible service. The Food is GREAT but service is HORRIBLE!! Slow, slow, slow. You wonder if your ever going to get waited on or if the waitress is going to come back with your bill. So the bottom line is if you have the patience then go, if not then don't.

Best Mexican Place. My husband and I have been going to Ruiz for about 15 years now and we love it. The have the best chips and salsa. We also love the margaritas too. Not too sweet and not to sour. The service in the bar area is better than in the dining room. The servers are always so nice too. The parking lot is well lit and easy to park. We eat out a lot and this is one of our favorite places to eat.
