Tips for Rocking J Bonfires & Parties

April 30, 2013

Summer camps are great and the children get to learn what it really means to take care of a horse. So many places fill the time with games and crafts, but this horse camp is different. Daily trail rides, outdoor arena work including bareback, learning to tack up and groom and much more. Fun shows at the end of the week show the family how much their child has grown in their horsemanship skills. My daughter started at Rocking J camps four years ago and through Suzy's help, has matured into a solid rider and a good responsible horse person! If you want your child to attend a camp where they will learn the true meaning of taking care of a horse as well as riding and be with a staff that sincerely cares about him/her, Rocking J is the place. The atmosphere is relaxed, comfortable and friendly. The trails and the barn, pavillion and new deck are beautiful. It is a great place for parties, receptions, trail rides and camps.

My 10 year old daughter has been attending Rocking J for two summers now and planS to go back this coming summer! This Camp is a very fun and great learning experience for kids. The campers have lovely, good broke horses, guided by friendly and knowledgeable staff. They train all week for a awesome horse show staring our kids at the end of the week!!! At the end of the day they get the opportunity to un-tack and groom their horses and spend some time with them. This camp is teaching kids what it really means to own a horse. Their daily duties include morning feeding, brushing, cleaning out hooves, saddling, riding lessons, and cleaning your horse s stall. Great for learning responsibility! THANKS ROCKING J RANCH!!!!!!

As horse owners we like what this facility has to offer. We have kept our horses there for many years and would recommend it. We have never had a single issue that we were not able to resolve through open communication with the owners.

The trails and riding arena are great. We certainly enjoy the pavilion, and the deck they just built last fall is a nice addition. The people are always friendly and helpful. It has a family atmosphere and is a good place for our kid. Looking forward to summer camp again!

We agree with previous posters that it looks like someone has a grudge and is trying to make the ranch look bad rather than contact the owner. Shameful. We've been there many years and have never met a Jen W. She is certainly not a boarder there. It is obvious enough that someone is having others make comments for them. Shameful!

My daughter's wedding reception was Oct. 6th at the RJR. It was perfect! Suzy was very helpful, accommodating and professional. The service was great and the food was excellent. Our guests had nothing but great things to say. They had a great time and an evening they will never forget. Most importantly, the bride and groom had the time of their lives. The only negative was hiring the recommended DJ-Owl Music. He was given a list of requested music in advance and we didn't find out until the event that he didn't have it. One of the guests had to hook his I-Phone up to the sound system to play some of the requested music. The DJ should have notified us in advance, or better yet, he should have downloaded the music ahead of time. However, this is no reflection on Suzy and her staff. I would not go with the DJ, but highly recommend the venue if you are looking for a western theme. They provided the catering, the tables, linen tableclothes, bon fire, horse rides for the kids, and just about anything else we wanted. The new face lift of the barn is especially awesome for pictures! This was a first class way to carry out our western themed reception!

I love Rocking J Ranch, we spend a lot of time there.

My children ride there all the time and my daughter will attend camp there for the first time this summer. If it were not a safe place to be, I would not send my child there.

For the previous poster: I am not sure where Susie lives has anything to do with the business that she runs at the ranch. Also- it seems as if you are a horse ranch hater, or maybe a ranch owner yourself. The only 2 reviews that you have on here are both bashing horse ranches in the area. hmmmmm.

Stay Clear, Criminals Living on Property!. Rocking J Ranch is by far the worst place you could ever take lessons, board, or have a party at. For starters the horses are all poorly taken care of. The only people that stay out there are the older ones who have boarded there forever and are just to careless to move; half of them don't even come out to ride or visit their horses. Two Suzy is never there and she does not even live in the house on the hill anymore. She lives in the house lower from the property and her house on the hill serves as a half way house for criminal/ felons did I mention she has no permit or anything legal stating she can do this... So yeah parents in case you didn't know now you do. I bet you will all feel safe knowing that are are criminals living in the house just feet from where your children ride.

I would not write this is non of it was true; just trying to let parents and people know that if you want you or your children to have a safe and comfortable riding situation look more into where you do it; and stay clear of Rocking J!

What I Wish I had when I was a Girl!. The camps and trailrides, both offer what , I wish I could get when I was a girl. To be able to help get the horse out, groom him, saddle him, bond with the horse.

A trainner that has experience to teach me how to do all of this and get to ride and correct my seat and hands, and make it fun, and to safely trot, and or canter when I wanted to, would have been so cool. We at RjR remember how it felt to be a person , dying to be around horses, and someone allowing me to do these things with instruction all the way would have been the ultimate. All that was offerered then was English riding lessons in an arena , never get to go up on the trail.

personal experience. I worked/volunteered for RJR for a year. My mom would take me at a drop of a dime any and every time I was needed. I worked there almost every single day, love the horses. I am now the proud owner of my own horse; which would have never happened if I didn't show my dedication and comittment to my parents working for RJR. Thanks for the opportunities given there.

well..... RJR does offer everything you need when it comes to arenas, trails, round pen etc, there's so much more to consider....how you'll be treated as a person and more importantly how your horse will be treated when no one is looking. As for the camps...watch an actual camp before making the final decision and see what you'll really be paying for. Owning a horse is a hard core, long time commitment, if you must board just be safe and shop around.
