Hannegan's is awesome!!!!!!. the food is excellent the service was great.
BEST FOOD AND SERVICE ON THE LANDING HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!. My husband took me to this restaurant the other day and we had an excellent time. Our server was a very warm and friendly gentleman by the name Maurice. He went out of his way to make us feel at home. The food was marvlous i highly reccommend you try the Hunter chicken (I had) and the double ribbed stuffed porkchop(my husband) with I swear to you is a culinary masterpiece! They have an awesome selection of wines and spirits, I even enjoyed a cheesecake martini while my husband devoured the Caramel fudge pecan pie! I would definately reccomend this place to everyone. it does seem to get very busy around seven.
WORST SERVICE EVER!.
My husband and I ate here out of desperation. We were starving and it was hot out. We visit the city often, and had never eaten here. We had heard great things about it. Dont believe those that say this is a great place. It is fairly roomy and nice on the inside. It has a nice historic appeal. But the service we recieved was horrible. Our waiter never smiled one time. He was short with us and seemed pushy to get us out of his way. When you work with the public as waiters/waitresses do, you should smile and be friendly. Especially if your expecting a good tip from me!
The food was just ok. I would not call it horrible, but I have certainly had better! I ordered a cajun chicken breast. It was overcooked, and the spices they "rubbed" on it, were so thick that I could not finish it. They were not spicy at all, like you would expect from cajun. It was like they had taken a whole bottle of season salt and poured it on top. It crunched between my teeth. The fries that were served with the meal, were soggy and gross. Our waiter never once showed back up to ask us how our meal was. And it was not a busy day. I counted only 2 other couples sitting in our section.
I would not send anyone here to eat! We should have stayed hungry and kept looking on the Landing for a place to eat!
STILL AN OLD FAVORITE.
I was recently in St. Louis for a family reunion, when I visited Hannegan's. I used to go to the Landing quite alot 20 years ago and wanted to revisit some of my old haunts. I didn't know what to expect when I ate at Hannegan's, or whether it was still there. Happily, it's still operating and doing a great job!
It's a beautiful place with lots of character. We sat at the gorgeous bar and had cocktails and we were never rushed. When we were ready to eat, we were seated at a cozy booth. Our server was well informed and suggested different menu items and wine to go with our choices. My strip steak was tender and juicy and cooked just like I like it. My husband got something called "airline chicken" or something, and loved the presentation and the tangy flavor of the barbeque sauce. I was stuffed and couldn't eat dessert, but my husband ordered the home-made ice cream mudpie, of course it took two of us to eat it.
I usually dont't write letters to businesses, especially since every place seems to settle for mediocre, but I was so pleased by our experience in St. Louis in general and Hannegan's in particular, that I thought I'd share it. I'm also sending a copy of this to Hannegans. I'ts so nice when you revisit someplace and they live up to everything you remember!
Avoid. Really bad food.. Some of the worst food I've ever been served at a sit down restaurant, possibly excluding Denny's. The salad came drenched in straight-out-of-a-bottle creamy raspberry vinaigrette (seriously, is it really a vinaigrette if it's not at least translucent?) The bread was bland and completely boring. The entree I ordered was the Cajun pasta--just don't even go there. It was, as near as I could tell, (and this isn't hyperbole) nacho cheese sauce--from a can--poured over some shrimp, fettucini, one piece of sausage, and some bell peppers. Oh yes, with what was very likely an overcooked crawdad perched on top. The service, although quite friendly, was abysmally slow, especially considering the number of people that were in the restaurant. A very, very disappointing experience.
Great Restraunt. I searched the internet for a nice place to take a couple of my female friends for a good dinner. I was not disappointed at all. I had Salmon and my dates both had the duck, all three of us had more than we could finish and a glass of wine and the bill only came to $70. Service was some of the best I have had in a while. our waitor was never far but didnt hover either. All three of us said we cant wait till we go back.
Editorial Review. Modeled after the U.S. Senate dining room, downtown restaurant offers an American menu, live jazz and patio dining.
Great interior. Nice food and service - but what I really like about Hannegan's is the interior. It is an exact replica of the US Senate dining room. People I bring here for dinner get a real kick out of the decor.
FOOD FOR ADULTS. GREAT FOOD, NOT BAR FOOD LIKE MOST OF THE REST IN THE LANDING. GOOD SERVICE, PIANO PLAYER AND A GREAT BOTTLE OF WINE. THIS IS THE PLACE FOR THE OVER 40 CROWD.
excellent experience. This restaurants ambience and look is like no other I've dined at. I travel constantly and Hannegans was recommended by my hotel consierge, it was great food and service at the right price. The Landing neighborhood was fun after dinner as well.
