cozy place to grab a bite.
although i didnt really have any food here (just coffee), the staff was awesome. so friendly and helpful! the place had some weird pictures on the walls and the whole atmosphere was kind of old school, but cozy.

Relaxing place to watch sports, hang out.
My boyfriend and I were in town for a conference. The first night we walked to the river from the Sheraton. Starved and unfamiliar with the town we stumbled on Caleco's and went into the bar side. The Cards were on T.V., the beer was cold and everyone was friendly and having a good time. More people filtered in as the game ended. We had our first "STL" style pizza and just hung out. It was very relaxing and the service was excellent. We did not try the restaurant side, but the bar was great!

Terrific steak and chocolate cake!!!.
My family and I were in town for a long weekend which also happened to coincide with my birthday...not being very familiar to the city we stumbled upon Caleco's because it looked Italian and kid friendly. The wait staff was very friendly and the salad was very good. But the t-bone steak which I had medium rare was a home run all the way! They serve their steaks with some type of garlic butter which was excellent and did not take away from the steak which was cooked to perfection and joyful at every forkful! I love a good steak and I must say that this was one of the finest I have ever had the pleasure to experience...I had to fend off my two daughter's who kept wanting bites of daddy's! The vegetables were also an excellent side. My wife told the waiter that it was my birthday and he asked if I liked chocolate cake, well do Cubs fans hate Cardianl fans? an emphatic yes! He then proceeded to bring out one of the largest slices of cake I had ever seen served at a restaurant, the cake it came from must have been humongous...and the taste did not dissapoint! It was rich, creamy, chocolatey delicious!!! And the price did not shock us, we felt we got an incrdible value for our buck. I will be back in the St. Louis area this weekend to watch my Cubs battle the Cards and you can be sure that I will be stopping at Caleco's to enjoy another sumptious feast!!!

overall, just okay for me.
Picked this spot as it was convenient to the hotel where we were attending a conference. The place was busy at lunch, but we were still in and out withing a hour. Ordered the Italian eggrolls but sent them back. They were incredibly greasy. I did sample the accompanying sauce..not good. The salads we had were better. Partner had no complaints about the chicken caesar salad. The club salad was okay too. Would have been better had the crutons not been stale. Also, couldn't believe they used hot house tomatos in the summer. A trip to the farmers market for produce by the staff could really enhance their salads. Atmosphere isn't anything remarkable. Service was fine.
