Great Food - Fun Waitstaff. The atmosphere at Jakes is upbeat and fun! I enjoy going here before or after sporting events downtown. My favorite dish is the teriyaki chicken and steak and I just have to have the mashed potatoes! My father comes here often for lunch and gets the salmon and just loves it! I am not a big steak eater, but there are lots of other options on the menu. I alway send visitors to Saint Louis here for a good meal.
How is this place still open??. The steak at this "Steak House" tasted like fish or tacos depending on what your ordered. My husband had to run to the bar next door to get us drinks. After all the food was evaulated and everyone at the table was dissatisfied I went inside the restaurant to speak to the manager, because she refused to come outside to speak to me when requested. I explained everything to her and she agreed to take some $ off of our bill ($20 off $150). To top off the entire experience, the waitress screamed in my face as I was leaving causing a scene, and the manager yelled at another friend in my party assuring that they would have no other patrons for the rest of the evening. These people are LUNATICS and unless you would like to be treated terribly I would not even step inside.
Worst steak and ribs I've ever had!.
After getting my order wrong twice they finally brought the ribs I ordered; stone cold and so tough I thought they cooked them in the microwave. My collogue and I ordered beers and only got a half a glassthe waiter told us that if it was a problem that he would bring us another. I complained and got another ? of a beer.
Several nights later the client Im here to see suggested we go there. We got there at 7:00pm and the place was dead. Nonetheless, it took an hour and a half to get our steaks. I ordered my steak medium and it was cooked hard as a brickDid I mention it was stone cold too? I complained and got another steakthe 2nd one was so tough and filled with gristle, I couldnt eat it. Might I add it was $41!!!
Landing Surprise!.

45 minute wait before sitting but atmosphere and bar staff was friendly. Restaurant has a southwestern theme with lots to keep your eye busy. I enjoyed a 7oz black peppered NY Strip (a little overcooked but still tasty), jalapeno mashed potatoes, fried onions, jalapeno cornbread, a side salad, and a glass of wine. Overall, meal was excellent!
Jake's Steak. Our family had a bad meal and bad service at Jake's Steaks. Attempts to just let the management/owner know about the bad experience resulted in being told we must have been mistaken about the steak and the service being bad and hope you return. What a joke! The owner called me at work and I was in meetings so never called back. Wasn't looking for a free meal and wouldn't have taken one had it been offered but since not even an apology was given we won't over go back.
2001 ski trip. My brother and I stop and eat dinner at this place on 02-28-01. After a short wait (with no reservation ) we were seated .We both ordered steak and ribs. The food was hot, looked good, and tasted great. The service, location, and atmosphere was nice. I would recommend this place to my friends.
Eat Here To Fend off Vampires. Now it may just have been what I ordered (Hickory Chicken Linguine) but it was intollerably salty and had way too much garlic. I will be vampire free for quite a while. The appetizer (tortilla chips with spinach dip) was great and the Mayfair salad was delicious, but it all led up to a great dissapointment with the entree. Maybe their steaks are better, but they're also about $20. All and all, not worth it in my opinion.
