Actually, the club doesn't even do that regularly; it's a restaurant that offers a six-month series called Jazz at the Bistro; at other times, they book local jazz artists. However, the Bistro's reputation, while lacking any true competition, is unparalleled.
The Scene
A nice, upscale joint in the heart of the midtown arts district, the Bistro books big-name jazz artists who, while perhaps not the most adventuresome lot, are nonetheless excellent inheritors of the tradition. Which is to say, the club is more conservative in its bookings than it should be; don't expect progressive freakouts, fusion or free jazz.
One Drawback
It's a fantastic, intimate space, though the restaurant policy of charging both a cover and having a $5 minimum is cost prohibitive to the bohos and beats.

theresa was my waitress and she was very patient and considerable... she kept asking me if my food was alright and of course the food was the best thing about the whole experience!! Their food Was so tasty that i almost bursted out of my chair and said i love this pub (or) restaurant!!

My boyfriend was in St. Louis on business this past weekend, so it was my job to find an activity for us. I think for this one he'll love me for life because is can't stop talking about it. Montez Coleman was playing and he is awesome. You can't top the atmosphere and the food is delicious also. The Bistro is not too big but also not to small so that you can get a good feel for the music. It's not too crowded but the crowd vibes to the artists. The presentation of the food is a class act also. Our impression of St. Louis was very dismal until we went to Jazz at the Bistro, at first I had my intentions were to never return to St. Louis but now I'll think twice especially if I can visit The Bistro again. It's a must if you are ever in St. Louis.
