Over-the-top Byzantine ambience and a great bill of fare..
The Background
Everything from top musical stars in the world of pop, jazz, rap (and pretty much everything else) to comedy shows, touring Broadway shows, and everything in between, the fabulous Fox Theatre is the place to go in St. Louis for big events.
The Scene
The lobby of this gorgeous, old converted movie house, decorated in lavishly gaudy "neo-Byzantine" style, is an overwhelming experience in and of itself. With 4,100 seats, you'll need binoculars in the cheapest seats (and maybe even in the not-so-cheap seats). The seats downstairs are not raked, making sight lines a real problem at times. Still, it's the only place to see "Phantom of the Opera," "Miss Saigon," the annual "Nutcracker at the Fox," and a lot more.
