At the turn of the 20th century, ragtime great Scott Joplin lived in this home with his wife. A frequent visitor to St. Louis saloons, Joplin's time as a resident was brief, though productive. He composed a number of his best known works during his short stretch here. Short guided tours of the house are available for a fee. A player piano perpetually plays the songs of Joplin and is one of the home's central focal points.
