The Scene
The restaurant has a clean, homey dining area with a terra cotta tile floor, whitewashed stucco walls, wood ceiling beams and copper chandeliers. The garden patio is a delightful place to dine, weather permitting.
The Food
Lagniappe (pronounced LAN-yap) is a French Creole word that means "a little something extra thrown in for good measure." At Bill and Brenda's place, customers are presented with a so-called lagniappe course before their meal. Lagniappe's makes its celebrated one-pot meal with shrimp, scallops, whitefish, andouille (spicy Louisiana smoked pork sausage), mushrooms, tomatoes and okra in a thick, dusky roux. Many Italian dishes are listed on the menu and on the chalkboard. Nevertheless, Lagniappe's prepares Cajun specialties so well that you'll wish there were more of them to choose from.

I'm a Caesar salad snob. I'm ruthless when it comes to judging them. Bill's Caesar salad is the absolute best that I've found in St. Louis, or elsewhere. It's worth the drive to Soulard just for that.
