Surprisingly good food, dependable and reliable all-around.
This is becoming our favorite lunch spot it Clayton, casual and colorful retro-diner atmosphere is with large portions of great sandwiches, soups and sides. The choose soup is superb. Serve is fast, but more like a diner than a restaurant. Impressively diverse menu and we're had very consistently good food. This is a fun, family-friendly place with an feeling of a New York City cafe. While the look inside is 50s retro-diner, the food is a more diverse and upscale than a diner. Our bill is also very reasonable. Highly recommended for a great lunch or a casual dinner.

you dumb bunny this is a neighborhood restaurant.
Manhattan Cafe is everybody's favorite restaurant. It is not too expensive. The food is just fine, especially when there are a variety of tastes to accomodate. Their sandwiches are delicious, the pizza is passable, and the salad dressing is very special.

Worst diner food! :(.
-Tried the buffalo drummettes which were overly breaded and rather tasteless and the hot sauce was ok... Franks red hot sauce is way better!
-Had spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were disgusting and inedible - spat it out as the meat wasn't fresh... and the spaghetti was watery since they didn't drain it well enough and there wasn't enough sauce so had to request more.
-The salad that came with the meal was almost all iceberg and covered in cheese. I eat salad to be healthy... not to have cheese. Picked off cheese and put it on spaghetti to give it some flavour.
-Ordered the garlic bread which had zero garlic... and barely any butter.... and some odd herb on it instead. Give me garlic!
Cherry coke was ok...
All of the above for $25 plus $5 tip = $30. Didn't even eat 1/4 of it as just was ok... almost edible. I have eaten in a lot of diners in the US and they are usually hearty and yummy and cheap. This place was definitely not cheap... the food was pretty bad and although the spaghetti was a hearty portion... what does it matter if you can't eat it!?
The servers and cooks were all very young... the service was ok... not very good.
Save your money... the side green salad at McDonalds for $1 is even better than theirs!

Poor Customer Service.
During a recent visit to the Manhattan Cafe my girl was ignored while standing at the "WAIT TO BE SEATED" sign. After finally getting the Mangers attention he snapped, "Uh, were a little bit busy right now!" Just letting everyone know...we won't be going back there! It is virtually impossible to upset my gal but, that manager there "managed" to do just that. Sometimes an established restaurant can forget who has contributed to their success and take things for granted. We hope this is an isolated incident!!
