Bar Italia

Great Italian Food / Relaxed Atmosphere. Bar Italia is definitely one of my favorite spots in St. Louis. It's located in the Central West End and I've shared this spot with many friends who thanked me for the suggestion. :) Food & Drink: Good variety of choices from appetizers to main courses. A few favorites: For appetizers the Caprini, goat cheese with crushed chili pepper and virgin oil, and olives and the Caponata, Sauteed eggplant marinated with vegetables, olives capers and raisins. For main course try the tortellini; the best that I’ve had! I’m not a big chicken fan but my niece loves the Pollo e Spinaci, Poached chicken on spinach with gorgonzola, toasted pine nuts, raisins in a balsamic vinaigrette. If they have the Veal Ragu special that’s one you will not want to miss or one of the many fish specials. Good wine selections and great coffee choices from the cappuccino to the espresso martini.

Atmosphere: International flare with a casual fine dining environment. The decor has a warm modern feel.There are several dining areas to choose from; the bar area - which I like as it is great for people watching, the balcony is good for a more intimate dinner and the patio is great for an outdoor experience that has a heated tent for colder seasons.

Service: The staff is very attentive and knowledgable on wine and food selections. I always feel welcomed and enjoy meeting people in the restaurant from the customers to the staff.…

NASTY /DIRTY/RUDE..... This place is a mediocre of all restaurant , its the worst ....the owners are rude and smelly and they have no idea what ITALIAN CUISINE IS WAKE ST LOUIS THIS PLACE IS .....FAKE / OVERRATED .…

Rats in the kitchen ....Don't Come Hungry..Its Unclean .. THIS Place is unsafe / UNCLEAN . The food WAS COLD AND NOT COOKED WELL .... prepared SOMALI AN WAY NOT EVEN CLOSE TO ITALIAN .. IT is SMALL portions!! FOR WHAT YOU pay for So get a salad and eat a lot of their free bread bc the pasta won't fill you up. The outdoor seating is hot and smelly tons of bugs.... they really cram a lot of tables out there. I ate with my sister one night, and felt as if I was eating on top of the people sitting next to us. Throw a 2x4 between the tables and it would have been considered a party of 4. So if you have to go to Bar Italia, be aware this place is fake FAKE FAKE , NOT EVEN ITALIAN ITS SOMALI AN RUN BY RUDE SOMALI AN ...go SOMEWHERE ELSE ITS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY !!!!!…

THIS IS THE WORST !!! ITS NOT ITALIAN ITS BAR SOMALIA .... VERY BAD SERVICE" / Horrible Food !! This place is the worst in the CWE We were under the impression that this place were "fair to good". We were a party of four. After more than a reasonable time to be waited on, finally "someone" approached our table and took our order. "not bad", but nothing compared to the real thing, I wonder if the Chef has ever been in Italy..anywhere..and doing what? LOL This Place is a joke , they are SOMALI WANA BE ITALIAN ....WELL THEY HAVE PLENTY OF ROOM TO WORK ON THAT . THE FOOD TASTE SOMALI AN ...., certainly not ITALIAN cooking!. We asked for catsup( as a joke!) and our "waiter". said "no, we do not have catsup"... and there was no salt nor pepper!...The problem is his manager. and poor training. The waiter's answer should have been.."no sir, I'm sorry, but I'll get it for you". and regarding salt and pepper?...what is the story?...maybe charge "extra" for those items...and should include a clause stating".."We are just learning".We are customers, you are employees. We pay you for your service...unfortunately we paid for a mediocre Midwest attitude, poor service and UNEATABLE SOMALI AN cuisine…
