Can't Beat It!. After years of spending $100+ on monthly trips to the salon for color and cut, I had to force myself to come up with and adhere to a "salon budget". I just couldn't justify the amount I was being charged for average services. Not to mention I had my fill of pretentious 22 year olds, right out of beauty school, who insisted they knew everything about my hair. I decided to try a no-frills approach to my salon visits and gave the salon my mother-in-law, grandmother-in-law and aunt-in-law have faithfully visited for years. To be completely honest, I expected to either be disappointed (because I had been brainwashed with the "You get what you pay for" theory for so long) or walk out with "grandma hair".

The Pros:

The salon is run by two women (I believe they are sisters?) who truely treat you like you have been friends for years - they are extremely friendly! They are attentive and really listen to what you are asking for. They don't try to talk you into to doing something you don't really want to do. They also don't try to push products on you (which I was also becoming quite tired of). This is definately a no-frills salon. No fancy reception desk, no "shampoo girl", no New Age music playing. What it is however, is clean, efficient and cheap!

The cons:

Be sure to bring cash or a check as they do not take credit/debit cards. Also, be prepared to make your appointments in advance. I had to break myself of the habit of expecting an appointment within a day or two of asking for one - plan on making your next appointment during your current appointment and you'll be fine. These girls book fast and usually can't get you in for 3-4 weeks.

I highly recommend Headlines Hair Design. Anyone who is looking for a departure from the rude, over-priced salons will be extremely happy with Headlines!!!

most reasonably priced cut and foils. my appointment was with karen. the salon is very small but welcoming these two girls definetly know what they are doing. my hair was awesome she foiled my hair with three shades and i only paid 50.00 which included the cut!
