Best food in St. Louis. Everything is fantastic! This restaraunt is expensive but worth every penny. The food is the best I've ever had in St. Louis. The ambience is romantic, the service is prompt and professional. Dominics sets the gold standard.

The Hill's best Italian--which is a bit like choosing Rome's best pizza.. The Scene
Dominic's has such a high regard for itself that it might accommodate walk-ins, but prefers that you make reservations ahead of time. But there's good reason for the fussiness: Its longstanding reputation as the best Italian restaurant on the Hill stems from its all-around greatness. Wear your best dress or suit to dine at this traditional Italian restaurant--the dining room is formal and dressy.

The Food
Portions are small and delicious, especially when it comes to the fresh halibut sautéed in cream sauce. Veal dishes and shrimp scampi are wise choices, but something more substantive--like fettuccine verde with sweet peppers, sauteed shrimp and garlic in white wine sauce--shouldn't be passed up. You'll kick yourself if you don't taste Jackie's Dessert, a traditional Italian wedding cake with layers and layers of custard, toasted almonds and shaved chocolate for garnish.

Worth it. If your looking for a"formal dining" experience, then this is the place. There are few places to dress up for dinner this is one. The service was attentive and excellent. The meal from start to finish was excellent. Dominics is not cheap, but then they didn't claim to be, if you want good service and good food your going to pay for it. The only downside was walking thru the bar to get to your table.
