Monkey Shines. I remember when Phil the Gorilla died in 1958 -- I was 9 years old and I was so sad .... we went to Phil every summer. Now there is an awesome memorial statue of him.
Free Zoo Visit. I've been attending the St. Louis City Zoo for over 55 years. I always find something that's new, exciting and interesting. It's the best zoo in the midwest and it's FREE!!! Sitting in the middle of Forest Park right down the hill from the St. Louis Art Museum, also FREE - you can't beat the combination. Come and see for yourself.
Its free. I love the St. Louis Zoo. One, because it is free and two its nearby my home so i can just pop in when i want. If you have kids and you want to pay a few bucks you can ride the train around or visit the children's petting zoo. I love seeing the animals the most though. oh and you dont have to pay for parking. there is always parking on the streets somewhere!
Best In The US.
I've lived in many states and seen many zoos. Nothing can compare to my love of the St. Louis Zoo in my hometown because:
1) It is so beautiful you forget where you are....it simply takes your spirit to another place.
2) It's very large and has quite a variety of animals.
3) The animals looked healthy and no signs of mistreatment.
4) It is part of history dating back the 1904 World's Fair.
5) Children and Adults love the train that gives you a wonderful view of the park.
6) The Petting Zoo is enjoyed by all, etc, etc.
It is simply the Best In The Us!
Can't believe it's free!. The Saint Louis iZoo is a great place to visit and take your whole family. It is amazing that they don't charge to get in but they don't!
Take Your Wild Ones to See Wild Ones. The Zoo is always a great place for the family. Now, the food and drinks can be a little pricey, but all the new things at the Zoo are great for kids of all ages.
More fun than a barrel of monkeys!. The St. Louis Zoo..with its new Rivers Edge area...is just a fabulous place to visit. Kids of all ages will love our Zoo!! You can't have more fun, or a more realistic experience, unless you went on safari yourself!

going to the zoo. The Saint Louis Zoo is the best place to visit while you are in Saint Louis. Not only is it free but there is so much to see and do. Many new exhibits have been added in the past few years. The River's Edge is amazing and should be on everyone's to-see list. The zoo is truly a Saint Louis landmark and something we are very proud of.
