Great Dim Sum!. Best Dim Sum in St. Louis. Pricey but dim sum usually is. This is our favorite place to go on Saturday afternoons. My daughter is 10yrs old & picky about Chinese food. She is used to having dim sum in Chinatowns of larger cities. She looks forward to coming here.

Do not eat here!! Too expensive for bad food!. First of all, the reviews that say this place is great are old. I have seen reviews from 2003, and 2006. We ordered takeout dinner on Nov. 25th, 2010. This was supposed to be our Thanksgiving dinner. We ordered chicken fried rice and Yun Nan Chicken. The fried rice was not edible. It looked as if it had been boiled, and the only thing added were a few peas and carrots. There were no spices, no onions...it was very, very bland. We called to ask about it, and were told it was fried lightly, in a more healthy way. We tried adding our own garlic, onions, and soy sauce, but were still not able to eat it. We put it away, un-eaten. After another call, we were told the manager was not in. She was also not in when we called on Friday the 26th. We were finally able to speak to her on Saturday the 27th. The restaurant was reluctant to refund our money, and only did so after I became quite upset. The reason I was upset? Not only did they ruin our Thanksgiving meal with inedible food, it made our daughter sick, and then the manager had the nerve to tell me this was not food from their restaurant. We had not even taken the rice out of the cartons, it was preposterous that she was accusing me of putting some other rice in their box. I was finally refunded a portion of the money, $26.50, after having spent $41.50 plus a $5 tip. That is a ridiculous amount of money for fried rice, and chicken.

If you are looking for great chinese food in Overland, do not go to Mandarin House! Instead go right up Woodson to Hon's Wok, where the food and people are wonderful.

It's okay at best.. This place is not as great as some people say it is. I remember years ago this place used to be the best chinese restaurant in town. However, this restaurant has really lost it's flavor. The quality is mediocre and the servings are decent. I would save my money and go somewhere else.

Good food, but pricey. This is a nice place to eat if you want to spend a little for maybe an anniversary or if you want to impress someone, or even a business lunch/dinner. But not for casual dining. Don't be fooled by the review with the one dollar sign. It's more like 2-3.

Awesome Food. As you walk in the first thing you notice is the way the restaurant is decorated. After that you'll notice the great service. When your food arrives you will find it to be excellent. I also noticed there were a lot of other Asian families eating here.

Make the trek to Overland for fine Chinese dining.. The Scene
Open since 1978, the Overland location of Mandarin House (there's a second outpost in Union Station) is getting better with age. From the moment you walk in the door and spy the turtle pond (yes, the turtles are real), you know this isn't your typical Chinese restaurant. There's nearly always a birthday party or anniversary dinner going on, but don't worry about noise. Celebrations are subdued, and you'll never catch the waiters singing.

The Food
Don't let the formality of the dining room and staff throw you; you'll find a lot of familiar Chinese dishes on the menu. Pot stickers come freshly steamed and filled with flavorful pork and spices, and the crab rangoon isn't to be missed. Order sizzling rice soup and watch your waiter assemble it tableside.
