In Short – Heavy mahogany, crossed swords and suits of armor in the lobby are your first clue that the Cheshire Inn's Merry Olde England theme is carried to bizarre extremes. The inn has 106 rooms, including several suites, some with themes. The Ultimate Bath suite has a Roman bathhouse feel; the Raj has Indian and Middle Eastern adornments. The most wild room is the Safari Rain Forest, with lions, tigers and jungle flourishes. – –
Shameful

I was there a couple years ago and although the hotel was dirty and filled with a staff that you would expect to find at a junkyard, the nightclub more than made up for what the rooms and hotel staff lacked so I return July 2008 only to find the nightclub closed , Also the restaurant was closed the pool was closed but the rooms were still dirty and the staff was still arrogant, they would not refund my money so I could go to another hotel ,although I did so anyway.
- Pros: Nice location
- Cons: everything closed except for the front desk
Old and Musty!!!

The condition of the Cheshire Lodge is deplorable! The lodge owner has managed to run one of the most charming hotels in St Louis into the ground. My last stay in April was horrible. The garage and pool had been condemned by the city. You had to walk on a unstable plywood bridge just to get in, The fabulous restaurant and pub closed (because the lodge owner kicked out the operators). The only available parking was on a dark alley behind the now closed restaurant (unsafe and scary). The staff is rude does not seem to care about the terrible condtions. They seem to think closing is in the very near future! The entire inside has a old stale smell. Rooms and beds are in run down condition. It is ashame what has happened to the Cheshire complex. I will not return and hope future people don't make the same mistake I made by staying there.
- Pros: Location
- Cons: Room, Bed, Pool, Parking, Restaurant, Pub, Service, Cleanliness
The worst Lodge in St. Louis

You can not rely on their website for accurate information. We were guests in mid-July, 2007 and the pool had been closed all summer, the underground parking lot has been condemned (per the hotel staff). They did not have adequate parking for the number of guests. They asked us to park our car on the street and for safety of our car, "we should sleep in our car".
I would not recommend this Inn to my worst enemy. For your safety, please stay somewhere else.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Unsafe, dirty, old
