Tips for Pho Grand Restaurant

DO NOT GO. BEWARE: Check your credit card bills because PHO Grand charges more than the amount on your receipt. It already happened to me twice on take out orders, they charged me $5 dollar more than the amount I signed off for. The food is decent, but I can't tolerate unethical practices.

Best Vietnamese food ever. This place is totally amazing. Everything is perfect; their food, presentation, service, staff, and ambiance is impeccable. The flavors are always well balanced and very clean. Nothing is too heavy unless you go on a gorge fest or something, which is not hard to do. I've tried most things on their menu and there is nothing I would not recommend. Another bonus is that their service is very fast. This place totally flows like butter. This is hands down the best Vietnamese restaurant in Saint Louis.

Bland Vietnamese Cuisine. Definately not best in town.. This restaurant was lacking in so many things.

Here is a list:

-Servers were rude and snobby. When I asked about the menu items, my server gave a big sigh and did not help much.

-Food was very bland and not flavorful like normal vietnamese cuisine.

-The interior is musky and unappealing

-The wait for my food was unbelievable. Vietnamese food, as many experts would know, is very speedy.

- The wait for my check was unbelievable. (server complaint again.)

-The list of desserts and drinks were not very authentic for a vietnamese cuisine.

- I went with a vietnamese friend who heard the servers speaking in vietnamese about the other customers, which is very rude.

-Not family friendly

-Not romantic

-Interior needs redecorating and updating.

There were a few things that made my trip not as bad.

Prices were pretty decent.

My suggestion, skip this restaurant and check out LemonGrass Restaurant, down the street, for actual "AUTHENTIC" Vietnamese cuisine.

Check out my review.

Best food with great value. My wife and I have been going to Pho Grand since 1990 when we first met. The food is excellent and the service is great ! We think that all the other reviews where the reviewer is writing about the cramped quarters just have never been to good ethnic eateries in cities such as Boston or SF where small size is the standard. Our children (all under 10) just love the cuisine at Pho Grand. When we were grad students, we found Pho Grand very affordable and the reasonable prices continue.

We call Pho Grand an EXCELLENT dining experience. The cultural experience is phenomenal as well !!!!!!!!

Agree with recent. I agree with the other recent reviews, with one exception. Yes, the majority of St. Louis has horrible Vietnamese. I've been to Houston, and STL can't compare to the Asian offering there, except for Bahn Mi So 1. If you're thinking about Pho Grand skip it and head further south on Grand. Everyone I've taken to Bahn Mi So is amazed at the flavors. It's what inspired me to cook Vietnamese!

Just Don't Go. My friends and I have never before tried Vietnamese food and Pho Grand got recommended to us by someone in passing. It was the biggest mistake to even go there. It was so cramped and the service was awful. The waitress we had was rude and when we asked her for some recommendations on the menu she got real snappy. If that wasn't enough we then order our food which takes about 45 min. to get to us and the food was horrible. I have no idea how they stay in business. Don't waste your time!!!!!!!!!11

Overrated, but not too shabby.. Reading the reviews on here, it would seem like Pho Grand is the Vietnamese restaurant to end all Vietnamese restaurants. I've had much better, unfortunately, just not in Saint Louis. The price isn't too bad.

STL VN food is bad - Pho Grand no exception!. My girlfriend recently moved to St. Louis for work and both of us, being from Texas, (Dallas and Houston, respectively) are accustomed to good VN food. VN service and food in STL is terrible. Pho Grand is no exception and would be out of business if competing in Houston. The broth was way too strong with anise and prices expensive. Service was terrible even by pho noodle house standards (which tend to be lacking anyhow). If visiting Houston then stop by the Chinatown in Bellaire on the west side for real Asian cuisine. What is with the dessert too? For a seemingly traditional VN restaurant the only dessert items were a very non-traditional creme pie and cheescake.

Simply Marvelous. This was my first time going to this restaurant. I dined alone and had no idea of what to order from the menu. The waiter was very helpful in recommending a great dish as welll as an appetizer from the menu. I was very delighted. This was the best restaurant that I have been to in a very long time. I would recommend it to any one for dine in or carry out, especially a couple.

Simply the BEST!. My wife and I have been eating there since it opened 13 or 14 years ago. We love the egg rolls that we dip in their wonderful lemongrass sauce. I highly recommend from the menu: 20.01 & 18.01.

One is a marinated pork chop, the other is pieces of steak. Both are served with tomato, lettuce, cucumber, and several kinds of onion over rice. Wonderful food, service and price!

Oh...The Vietnamese iced coffee is made at your table on top of your glass...Delicious!
