Avoid the upstairs.
Returned after a couple of years to find a newly remodeled bar area, less than average food this time and a noise level upstairs that is unbearable. Two seatings cause a big time rush at 8PM that created waits of 15 minutes beween drinks, appeizers, etc. The food was average this time around, a big disappointment since my other two visits were fantastic. Don't, I repeat, don't take the upstairs seating mandated on weekends. Stark room, a noise level that was painful and busboys who would drop everything into a container with such racket that the entire room would look around. The Carpachio was eye of the round instead of filet which made it tough, stringy and inedable. The califlower salad sounded great but had two small flowerettes on a bed of field greens. The Asian sauce on my fish was certainly not made by an Asian, sweet, sticky and overpowering. The table bread was stale and it goes on and on and on!
Thank God we had presence of mind to suggest dessert at Monarch, that saved the night and filled us with regrets that we hadn't made them our first choice.

Pretty good but not great.
I've been to Frazer's three times and was not impressed enough to go back. I like the eclectic feel, but the food was really only okay - not really good enough to talk it up.

If you haven't been to Frazer's in awhile.........you have to go! Not only is the menu amazingly wonderful with it's eccentric variety, but, the artwork inside is worth the visit. If you appreciate really good seafood and fantastic desserts, then you have to try this place. It is so unique, warm, and inviting. It seems that almost everything from the tables, chairs, and artwork on the walls were created by local artists. (I'm nosey, I asked a lot of questions) I have been taking a lot of my friends to Frazers and they are amazed by this place. They can't believe what a gem it is.

A combination of comfort food and innovative specials..
The Scene
If you live or work in South City, you've probably already discovered Frazer's, an unassuming restaurant tucked away just a stone's throw from the brewery. The interior is a bit zany--a collection of masks on one wall, stuffed fish on another--but attractive and comfortable. In winter, a fireplace adds to the coziness factor.
The Food
In short, it's imaginative, attractively presented and delicious. A mushroom strudel appetizer offered as a special, for example, was a delicate turnover of golden puff pastry amply filled with wild mushrooms, dusted with parsley and served with a colorful mound of tomato chutney. Pizzas have cracker-thin crusts, sweet tomato sauce and lots of toppings. Bowls of pasta seem nearly bottomless. Pork schnitzel in lemon-butter-caper sauce is very good. Roasted chicken comes with real mashed potatoes. The chalkboard holds many specials, often more than the menu itself. Don't order 'til you've come to terms with these, often the best things coming from the kitchen on a given night.

One of the Best in St. Louis.
I would put Frazer's cuisine up against any restaurant in St. Louis. The atmosphere eclectic, without being stuffy or pretensious. If you're looking for a new favorite place to dine, one meal at Frazer's will make you a lifelong patron. I highly reccomend Frazer's.
