Joseph's is a wonderful choice. I went there with 6 other women for a "girls night out" and we had a wonderful time. Joseph's is a very elegant, classy place and not at all snobby like I expected. The food was EXCELLENT, the service was impecible and the atmosphere was cozy and romantic.

I liked it so much that my husband and I are taking the family for his parents' 40th wedding anniversary next week.

Not inexpensive by any means but HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and worth every penny you'll spend.

You might even run into some local celebs. There were at least 4 that I recognized while we were there.

A beautiful room and beautiful food don't necessarily add up to a perfect evening.. The Scene
The host leads you into a stylish black-and-white room with clocks set for St. Louis, New York and Milan. Live piano music drifts up to the balcony. Gorgeous plates of food complete the scene.

The Food
The meal begins perfectly with stuffed portobello mushrooms paired with impeccably fresh, lightly dressed greens. The delicious combination delivers bites of richness and astringency. Vine-ripened tomato slices pair with hearty slices of mozzarella in a red and white fantasy of a salad. However, the filet mignon with three-cheese mashed potatoes was only average, and the accompanying asparagus was dry and stringy. Prawns, overcooked and remarkably flavorless, top angel hair pasta in a light olive oil garlic sauce. With a dessert that had wonderful ricotta cheese layers but somewhat stale cake, the meal ended on a disappointing note, though it began with such promise.

A great STL Italian restaurant. A truly romantic atmosphere. If you have a special evening in mind and you want some of the city's best Italian food make Joseph's your choice. It also has a great place for after dinner drinks and live music right next door. This high class establishment is highly recommended.

Services is the worst!. We were there last Sat. night. Our reservation was for 7:30, we were seated at 8:10 which was O.K. because we ran into friends at the bar. We sat for 20 min. before the waiter even came by. At that point I had to ASK for silverware and water. He seemed angry at the request and didn't return for another 15 min. The salad was a big plate of iceberg lettuce, still in a wedge with knife slices in it. My husband had the veal which was good, I ordered the salmon special, which was described as a lemon caper sause and came with what looked to be a salsa mixture on it. The service continued to be the worst I have ever had! Needless to say, we will never go back.
